Ian Hecox

I was swarmed by the donuts, I felt soft pastries and sweet frosting stick to my skin as they surrounded me. The mutants cheered and whooped, most of them trying to reach for me like a child wanting attention from their parent.

"Hey! Hey! Take it easy, you guys!" I said, making them stop what they were doing and stand perfectly still.

Then a small donut hole rolled in front of the others. It was glazed in pink frosting, brighter compared to the others and was obviously like that because it might have a role in this story, big beady eyes, and a cute baby smile.

"Hi, Edd." I picked up the pastry that was small enough to fit in both of my cupped hands. Little Edd whimpered like a puppy.

"How are you and the others?" I spoke in the donut dialect that consisted of farting noises.

The little one responded with random, however understandable to me, groans and farts.

"You've taught the other donut holes some tricks?" I said with much excitement, "That's so cool! Can you show me?"

Edd nodded, hopping from my hands and regrouping with four donut holes. The four formed a perimeter around him making the shape of a diamond.

"Ready?" Edd said to the others which they replied.

With one cute battle cry, all five of them began rolling on the grass, heading towards me like a group of bowling balls ready to bring down the pin. I chuckled, waiting for all of them to come closer. But to my surprise, all of them took a sharp turn, going around me before launching themselves in the air, still in their diamond-like formation.

It was then that I realized that Adrian was behind me, the little donut holes hurling at him. My brother took it all, all five donuts ricocheting off his chest sending him toppling over on the grassy lawn.

"HEY!" I yelled in anger, "Why did you do that?!" I turned back at Edd. "Adrian! Are you alright?" I ran to my brother who was on the ground spread eagled, staring up at the sky catching his breath, dazed and confused at what had just happened.

"I'm good, bro." He took my hand and I pulled him up to stand.

"Edd..." I glared at the donut hole, "What do you have to say for yourself?"

"Nah, it's okay, Ian." Adrian arched his back clutching his chest. "Those donuts really do hate me, even little Gordo."

   "Where is that little Gordo?"

"You wouldn't believe it, bro." Adrian scoffed, "But he ran all the way back here. He's over there."

He pointed to one of the donut holes chatting with the other mutants.

"Oh..." I said, seeing the sadness in my brother's eyes, "Maybe it's because you used them for evil back then. No offense." I whispered softly, but enough for Adrian to hear, trying my best not to sound too harsh at him.

"None taken." He frowned, dusting off the grass on his back. "I've seen other people showing resentment towards me recently."

"Hey, it's not that, bro." I placed my hand on his shoulder. "I think they are still not used to seeing a douchebag... er, an ex-douchebag going good."
