We walk back to the class room in silence. His shoes making an ear deafening screech, every once in a while. I asked Ms. Carole.
"Um Ms. Carole, as you know Mason is new here and he wanted to have me show him around school. Do you mind if we do?"
"Yeah Scarlet, let me write you a pass and you have to be back before the bell."
She writes a pass while I pack my things up so they're ready to go just in case I get back late. Hannah looks at me smiling a goofy mischievous smirk. I look at her contemplating if I should say something.
"What?"
Her smile grows bigger when I ask.
"Oh nothing, Just have fun on your little tour." She winks at me.
I roll my eyes and stick my tongue out like a five year old.
"I'm just showing him around Hannah. I wished that someone would have done this for me, I got lost on my first day to gym last year."
We both start laughing hard. Her laugh eventually becomes silent and she looks like a flailing seal. I laugh even harder at the sight, but not too loudly so it won't attract attention. Hannah stops laughing but still smiles while looking at somthing behind me. I turn around to find him looking at us smiling.
"I'll see you next period Hannah, save me a seat."
"Sure no problem." She pulls me close and whispers
"Tell me everything when you get back."
She giggles like a little school girl and winks. I stick my tongue out and laugh. Turning around to the smiling boy.
"Ready?" I ask.
"Yeah, lets go."
I grab the pass from Ms. Carole before leaving. I look back to see Angela scowling at me. I roll my eyes and walk out. We walk next to each other down the eight grade hallway.
"Here, I guess you can see, is the “C" wing. At the way near the end of the hall is the C-14 computer lab. We have two."
We walk to the end of the hallway and down the steps. We hit the “D" wing.
"Do you have Ms. Morretta for Spanish?"
"No actually, I have Mr. James."
"Oh ok then, you won't have to go down there unless you need to get to English and or Social Studies.
L walked him to the center to show him the computer lab and introduce him to Mr. Eastman, the computer lab teacher. I show him the library next.
"I almost forgot, do you mind if I check out a book real quick, I've had it on hold and it just came in?"
Mason smiled adjusting the glass jail that was falling off his nose.
"Yeah sure that's fine."
We walk in and I greet the librarian. She's an old woman who gets treated horribly by the kids at this school. She tells me that Cloaked, the book I was looking for, had just been returned. I go towards that section. I scan the books on the wall. I see the book and bend down to get it. I start reading it walking past a group of pop girls. Pop is a nickname some friends and I made up for popular kids. I look up and smile at Marabella, queen pop. She was the nicest out of all of them, but all my friends warned me in seventh grade to stay away from her. I notice a boy in that same isle they stood by. The Greek Mythology section. I've never seen anyone in this section. I'm usually the only one who checks out those books. Mason has his nose in a book about The Tale of Psyche and Cupid. That was my favorite mythology story. The love, curiosity and betrayal is strong in the story, that's why I love it. He sees me walking towards him and puts the love story down.
