//Archie Flashback\\
I walk in the men's locker room after football practice.
"Andrews, what's up with your face?" Reggie says. I was a little pissed off. My apprenticeship was a little demanding. I was an apprentice at a prison. Not a lot of people were aloud to do it, not that anyone thought it was possible but I was meant to be getting a job from this if all went well. I had to book the night off. For me. I needed a break. They didn't like the fact I had a night off.
"Well, I don't know reggie, aren't I aloud to be pissed off without question?" I sigh.
"Nope." Reggie says.
"Fine. I'm planning something really special for Veronica and trying to balance my apprenticeship that nobody knows about and my music on top of that, then my plays. I haven't been round Veronica as much as I'd like and it's depressing me. Is that enough information Mantle?" I spit at him.
"Yes. I guess." He bursts past me out of the locker room, leaving me in confusion. Reggie usually has an answer for everything. One of the things I love about him... sense the sarcasm? I walk out of the locker room to see reggie talking to Veronica. She looks pissed off and she pushes him. I wonder what they were talking about? I walk up to her.
"Are you ready to go?" I say. She's in her PE kit, just coming from cheer after school. She usually goes home in that but I have to change to be comfortable.
"Yes." She sighs.
We walk out and she seems a little off.
"Are you okay?" I say.
"I'm fine." She says, snaking her arms around my waist.
I kiss her lips softly and she smiles into it. Proud to say that I was her first kiss. I pull away.
"Let's go home princess." I smile.
She nods.
We start to walk home.
"So Archiekins... how are you?" She says.
"I'm fine. What about you?" I say.
"I was great." She sighs.
"What do you mean, was?" I say.
"Archie... I know you've been cheating on me."
"W-what?!?! I haven't." I said, with tears in my eyes. Truth was, I didn't.
"Reggie told me that's where you was last night. I tried to ignore it archiekins but you wasn't answering your phone last night. Even after your apprenticeship which now I don't believe is real. Not that you told me what it was." She says, a black tear falling down her cheek stained by her mascara.
"Veronica, I can't tell you for health and safety reasons. I'm not aloud. My phone was dead, I'm sorry and I was busy." I say, sobbing.
"Busy fucking girls." Veronica says. "I fucking hate cheats. What was you doing then Archie?"
"Planning something for you." I sob.
"Your a liar Archibald Andrews and I fucking hate you, I never want to speak to you again. You are a fucking liar. I hate cheaters. Once a cheat, always a cheat so don't come back to me Archibald. Don't you fucking even dare. I'll find someone who'll appreciate me for me and not go behind my back to fuck other chicks." She runs off, sobbing.
This was the first time I heard Veronica swear. She usually doesn't do that sort of thing. It's usually me.
I sob till I physically feel sick. And I find I'm still sobbing when I sit in the corner of my garage, rocking back and forth. I know I'll never get over Veronica Lodge. Ever. If I don't try and move on though I'll be sad forever. I'm not ready yet though. Give it a year.

//present day\\
I was depressed for the year I had off, I'll admit that but then I met Cassie at work. She was nice. Cassie moved to Florida though. Even though she's away, we aren't dating but we are so much better as friends anyways. I confine everything into her. I texted her about today and advice. Veronica doesn't know it's me so maybe I do have a chance in another life. A lying life where instead of being Archibald Andrews, I'm Toby Michaels and Toby Michaels can be whoever he wishes. Maybe I'll be myself just not with my name.
I walk to the cell.
"Lodge, Lodge, its shower time." I say, walking in. Veronica puts down her book. My eyes widen in realisation. It was my old song book full of songs about her that I'd wrote. It was black but the front said Veronica in sequins. It was still in amazing condition. A tear brims my eye but I quickly wipe it away.
"I'll be back for you, Veronica." I say. "I'm just taking your father."
I take Hiram to get a shower and walk back to where Veronica is sat. She shuts the book as I enter.
"Is that from reggie?" I say, referring to the book. I can't blow my cover.
"N-no. This is from one of my exes." She looks down sadly. "I-it ended badly. It doesn't matter."
"I had a relationship that ended bad. She was like Tobias, I know you're cheating. I wasn't, but it hurt."
"Oh my god. Mines similar. Apart from I'm not too sure if he did cheat. He was always too busy for me." She sighs.
"I'm sure he didn't. He'd be throwing away someone special if he did."
"Thanks Tobias. But it doesn't matter. I told him to never speak to me again." A tear falls. Was she as hurt as me?
"I'm sorry. Don't cry." I sigh. "Let's get you showered."
I pass her a brand new bar of dove soap. It was from commissary. I stole it. I put the money in the tin but how was I meant to explain shopping there? I take Veronica to the shower and she undresses in front of me. They all have to but i bite my lip slightly at seeing Veronica naked. For the first time. She gives me a quick thank you glance and takes the soap. She gets showered.
"Parker, make sure Lodge Jr. is okay. I need to re-dye my hair." I sigh. My friend nods, understanding why. Louis Parker was a trust worthy guy. He'd look after her.
I walk to the salon part of prison.
"Make me a brunette again if you're available." I say. It was my break. I might as well get my hair dyed.

When my hair is freshly died, I'm off break and my roots are now brown. I walk back to Veronica's room. Her dad is at group therapy.
"I'm not going." She says, simply as I walk in. "Oh hey Toby..."
"I'm not making you." I say.
"Your hair seems... more vibrant." She says, she puts her hands through her hair. "You have something in your hair line." She says as I walk closer.
"Wait, have you dyed your hair???" She says.
"Yes. I'm blonde." I lie.
"You'd be a good redhead but blonde isn't your colour." She says.
"Maybe I'll go red one time." I sigh.
She looks at me.
"Toby..." she says. "Thank you."
"No prob—" I say, getting cut off. Veronica Lodge was kissing me again. She cut me off by kissing me.
