Chapter 1: Mortals and Charmed
"Chug, chug chug!" The whole crowd chorused, they let out another big cheer as Jake one of the schools footballers, and my best friend, drank another bottle of beer, we all turned our heads to his opponent, Nathan who shook his head, surrendering the game.
"You win." Everyone let out another cheer; Jake swung his arm around me as I helped him keep him balance.
"I'maweshum." He slurred swinging side to side.
"Alright Jake, time to get you home." I told him, cringing at the strong smell of alcohol reeking from his mouth.
"Wait! Where pickles?" He said turning his head back and forth randomly, putting him the position to get major whiplash.
"Pickles?" I chuckled.
"My teddy bear." I let out a burst of laughter as we finally got to the front door, there were still people dancing outside cheering on Jake for winning the game, and he just let out a groan beginning to sober up.
Finally as we made way to his car, I looked around making sure no one was around, and waved my hand near the car door feeling an energy spike through my veins.
"C'mon! C'mon!" I whispered yelled, I heard the doors clicked, letting out a little sigh and helped put Jake in the passenger seat, I closed the door and ran to the other side of the car slipping my self in the driver's seat.
I looked over to Jake who rolled his head over and on to his shoulder as he began to fall asleep, I buckled him up in his seat belt and drove slowly to his house, I heard him mumble a few stuff as I continued driving until I saw the familiar arched hedge, I got out the car, heading towards the brown front door.
After ringing the doorbell again, still waiting outside in the cold for what seemed liked forever, the door swung open to reveal a very tired Thomas, Jake's old brother, he and Jake shared looks, they both had shaggy blonde hair and blue eyes, the only difference was, Thomas had a more mature stubble face compared to Jake's baby face.
Thomas's hair was edgier and he was in his boxers and t-shirt, so I'm assuming we disturbed him from his sleep.
"Evelyn? What are you doing here? It's 1' o clock in the morning." He said rubbing his eyes.
"Jake." I told him bluntly, and he immediately knew what I was talking about.
"He played that stupid beer game again didn't he?" He said and I could almost feel him beginning to fume up, he ran his hand over his face shaking it a little. "Where is he?"
"He's asleep in the car."
"Alright, I'll be two seconds." He walked through his house and after a few minutes he came back with a glass of water, I followed behind him curiously as he opened the car door and splashed the water on his face, his eye shot opened as he rubbed his eyes angrily.
"What was that for?" He yelled, only to lie back in pain from the beginning of hangover he was going to have.
"Good you're awake, let's go." Thomas said, Jake unbuckled his belt, and came out of the car only to wobble around, Thomas held him from one side, whilst I held him from the other, I closed the car door with my foot, and we walked in to their home.
"You can let go now..." Thomas told me when we were on the bottom of the stairs, and then he threw Jake over his shoulder, whilst I followed behind him into Jake's room. He placed him on his bed and left the room.
