Sweet mother told her
not to wear shorts.
"Why?" She asked
"There are men in the house" mother replied in a whisper
it was then she questioned
"What kind of men?"
It was then she questioned
If she was unsafe in her own home.
Is there even a place safe enough for her to be free?
To be herself.
