Louis' POV

I don't wake up until quite late the next morning, and by the time I make it downstairs, Niall is already in the kitchen, finishing up his breakfast.

"Mornin' Niall," I smile, making myself a coffee.

"Hey, mate. Y'alright?" he gets up to throw out his garbage and rinse his plate.

"Yeah, I'm good. Excited to see Freddie!"

We chat for a bit as I drink my coffee and have a bit to eat, and by the time I'm finished, it's time for me to get dressed and ready to go to the little birthday party. It's being held at Briana's place. Since Niall wants to drop in to see Freddie, he drives me over. I'll have my driver pick me up for the interview later.

I'm hoping Briana will be okay with Niall coming. I played it off like she would be totally fine, but really, she can be a bit...well, picky about when I see Freddie, so I don't know how she'll feel about Niall crashing the party. Not that he's even staying that long, but you never know.

When we arrive, I knock on the door, Niall standing just behind me. Briana answers after a minute, greeting me shortly with a "Hi, Louis," before stepping back to let me in.

"Oh. Who's this?" she asks, narrowing her eyes as she sees Niall following me in.

I resist the urge to roll my eyes. She definitely knows who Niall is. "Briana. Meet Niall. Niall, this is Briana, Freddie's mother. Niall just wanted to pop in and say hi to Freddie for a moment, if that's alright. He won't be staying long."

"I guess that's okay," Briana mumbles, silently leading the way into her living room.

I catch sight of Freddie playing on the floor with a set of blocks and immediately break into a grin. I've missed seeing him the past little while when I've been busy with...oh man. First there was finishing Just Hold On, then the stuff with Mum, then Christmas, and after New Year's was the ageplay time, and then promo run...I can't believe it's been so long. I feel bad that I don't get around to seeing him as much as I really should, but I know Briana loves him and does a great job being a mother.

"Hey, Freddie, baby, look who's here," Briana coos, picking him up and walking toward me. "Is it Daddy? Is your daddy here to say happy birthday?" she asks, bouncing Freddie in her arms.

"Ah!" Freddie exclaims, and maybe it's a bit too much to hope after so long, but it almost sounds like he's trying to say 'Daddy'. "Ah! Ah!" he babbles, reaching his chubby little arms out for me.

"Hi, baby," I say, gently lifting him out of Briana's hold. I look down at his little face and I can't do anything except smile for a moment. He's mine, and he's just so beautiful. Suddenly, I realize Niall is just standing awkwardly behind me and turn around. "Freddie, say hi to your Uncle Niall. He came to say happy birthday to you too." I wave one of his hands at Niall, who smiles.

"Happy birthday, bud! Oh, he's so cute, Louis! He's getting so big!" he gushes.

"He is, isn't he? A whole year old..." I trail off, realizing how little time I've actually spent with my own son. Yeah, I've been busy, but really, I should make more time to be with him. Even in the past few weeks that I've been in LA, I haven't even tried to see him until now, mostly because I've been caught up in the stress of things and thinking of, or I suppose sometimes doing, ageplay. Is that even a good idea, really? I have a baby, isn't it a bit irresponsible to be acting like a baby myself? Or maybe it's the other way around, and it's irresponsible for me to be trying to care for a baby if I'm unable to care for myself all the time? Either way, I should make more time to see him, really. Maybe after this promo run, when I get back from New York. I don't think I have anything planned then, do I?
