I arrived home and I had an urge to run back to school and not come back. I took my time to open the door. When I finally opened it, I tripped over a cable that lead to our living room television. I shook my head and walked to the sofa. My Nintendo 64 was at the bottom cabinet of our huge TV stand. Oh no. Did she- I thought when I suddenly saw a note on the coffee table next to the gaming controller. It read:
I better see some progress on those save files or else it's bye bye modern technology. -Very pissed off Mom
I groaned and picked up the TV remote. The screen was already on the files with two empty and one used. A name BEN was on the used one. I tried to make the little arrow go down to the other empty files but it only made a "denied" sound. I clicked on the BEN one and the game started. I like to mess around games. I never actually play missions. Only when it's necessary. I tried to talk to the "civilians" but the text boxes were illegible. My anger sometimes gets the best of me but I let it slide for a bit. I went to a different city and all they said was BEN. I got tired of the name and changed it to my initials. I went back to play the game but the text boxes were empty. I growled at the thought that I would even try. Suddenly I saw a creepy character stalking my avatar and decided to approach it. Again with the weird language and a laugh that made me jump back. The screen went black and it said:
"You've met a terrible fate haven't you?"I stayed there. The controller shaking on my hands as I pressed the A button. I gasped when I saw a statue of the avatar on the screen. I started hitting it with the sword. It didn't work. The screen froze and suddenly the avatar burst into flames. My eyes widened. Isn't this game supposed to be for kids?! The hell is this?! I thought angrily. I rebooted the game and chose the same file. This time it was underwater. I moved the character through the water. The statue was still staring at my character. I repeated the process I did when I first encountered this creepy thing. It was shocking to see the avatar getting strangled by an unknown force. Another text box appeared saying:
"You shouldn't have done that."
I dropped the controller like a hot pan and ran to the TV. I yanked the N64 out of it. The screen still stayed at the text box. I turned it off and threw the N64 under the table. I sat on the couch horrified by what had happened. Ok ok. I have to calm down and not think about it, I thought. The TV turned on to a static channel. I looked everywhere for the possible remote that I sat on but the remote was on the table. I stared at it until I heard a male voice say, "It's rude to shut people down." I gasped horrified looking at the TV. A boy about my age stood at the front of it. His eyes were black where it should be white with red pupils. He had a green shirt, white tights, green pointy hat, brown boots, a brown belt, but I didn't see the sword and shield. He had blonde hair and a pale color to his skin. My mouth was open. I didn't know what to say.
"Close that hole of yours. You'll catch flies," he taunted getting close to me. I immediately got on my feet and scrambled to the kitchen entrance near the living room. I looked at him. He looked back at me. He calmly walked towards me and I went in the kitchen scared out of my mind. My heart was so close to popping out my chest when I heard him behind me. I turned around to face him, breathing heavily.
"You look awfully pale for a dark person," he told me with an observing look. Strike one. I thought. I started looking for a possible weapon. My eyes locked on a near frying pan that was possibly used.
"I'm tan," I snapped, "There's a difference." I felt my blood boiling and my heart ready to come out of my body. I guess my anger got the best of me because he then said, "Oh look you changed color. Now you're red." Strike two. One more chance. He was starting to annoy me. I didn't respond to him. I only scoffed and shifted casually towards the pan.
"So much fury in that little body of yours don't you think?" he remarked. Strike three. Time to act. I looked at him and carefully said, "Said the guy with all talk and no do. What? You scared of this 'little body'." His face turned serious as soon as I finished my sentence. He squinted his eyes and said, "Wow and a big mouth, too? Does this package come with something else?" I made a plan that would surely make him break.
"As a matter of fact it does. Come at me and I'll show you Blondie," I taunted. He charged at me. In instinct I grabbed the pan, swung it at his head and THUMP went his body down to the floor. My good nature got the best of me and I checked if he was only unconscious. He had a big bump on his head the size of a golf ball. I learned right then and there that frying pans are better than any other defense mechanism. Oh no. I have a creepy guy that possibly came out of our TV unconscious in our kitchen, I thought quickly, I have to hide him before- just then I heard the front door open, interrupting my train of thought, and my mom's voice saying, "Malie, sweety, I'm home."
