When I left the basement, I wondered right back into the tunnels Me and Mike used earlier to get to the lodge. Since we were told about the Wendigo, it all began to make sense. What I didn't understand was why the wendigo killed Jess and not me. I wondered through the tunnels, staying behind Mike. I remembered the night Hannah and Beth disappeared a bit clearer. I remember getting tossed into a tree by a monster, Hannah and Beth screaming my name. But then I remembered the stranger knocking me out. Deep down, I had a feeling they fell off the cliff but I kept thinking one of them was a... Wendigo. It made me sick to just think it but I was deep in my thoughts and I tripped over and Mike turned round, sighing as he saw me, "Here was me thinking you'd stay behind..."
I smiled, "What can I say? I'm full of surprises."
Mike exhaled, "Just like that time at the rave in that old barn , when you-"
I finished his sentence, "Hit someone with a beer bottle because they were getting up in your face."
The memory made me smile, making me think of how much I thought I was a punk.I pulled up my sleeve, looking at the bracelet. Mike and Jess bought me this for my birthday and I told them I would never lose it, I've still got it. I walked beside Mike through the tunnels, repeatedly looking over my shoulder. We came to a metal gate, I exhaled, "It's ajar!"
Mike pulled a switch and it opened slightly. "Awesome." Mike sighed in a sarcastic tone. He pushed it open move so we could squeeze through. We kept walking until a can on the floor budged. Mike aimed at it but I stopped him as a rat ran out. I exhaled, "Fucking rat..."
We turned to see the Wendigo, screeching in our faces. Mike shot it, knocking it down, "Huh, huh... How's that feel you fuck?!"
We ran and we came to a dead end, Mike aiming at the wendigo as I tried to pull open the door. I pulled it ajar and I turned to see Mike pinned down by the Wendigo. I pulled a loose pipe off the wall and wacked the Wendigo, causing it to chase me instead. Mike got up, slightly winded. I was pinned to the floor, the wendigo trying to bite me. I kept my leg on the wendigo's chest, pushing the wendigo away. I grabbed the pipe and wacked it around the head. I got up, running to pick up the gun.Mike ran into a room and pulled me in, closing and blocking off the door. Mike looked to a hole in the door and the wendigo appeared, Mike hitting it with his machete.
We ran onwards with the wolf. Cautiously, we crouched down and hid behind a desk when a wendigo appeared, looking around. We stayed very still until a bottle rolled off the desk, smashing on the floor next to Mike. Suddenly, I looked to my bracelet to see a stud fall off. I looked around me to see the room back before it was abandoned and then my sight flashed back to reality, no bottle had fallen yet. When I heard it rolling, I grabbed it as I rolled off the desk. The Wendigo looked around, moving away from the door, allowing us to leave.
I looked to see my bracelet, the spot where the stud fell off. I saw a carving in the leather, it was a face. I squinted, looking closer to see it was Jessica's face.
'What the hell is this bracelet?"
I felt the urge to touch the carving of Jessica's face and when I touched it, everything seemed to go in reverse. It took my back to the elevator, Jessica being carried. I took a stone and threw it at the Wendigo, making it drop Jessica. The Wendigo screeched and climbed away. I sighed, crying, "Jess... Oh thank god. I thought It would... would've killed you."
Jess struggled to talk, "It... would have if... if you hadn't thrown... that... stone."
I grabbed Jess' hand, "It'll be fine, I promise. We'll get through this."When Mike ran to us, I went back to reality and the carving of Jess' face wasn't there anymore, there was instead several letters. The rest of the bracelet still had studs all over. I was confused. My mind skipped to Emily, 'What about her?'
I tried to loosen another stud but it stayed there, not loose slightly. I realised the reason, 'I get it, I have to find out a way that the situation could've been avoided.'
I thought to myself, then I realised what the stranger said,
"If any man or woman RESORTS TO CANNIBALISM, the spirit of the Wendigo shall be unleashed."
My jaw dropped, "I get it, Emily would've had to resort to cannibalism, but I know her to well, she'd rather starve then eat a human.'
When I figured out the solution, a stud fell off my bracelet and I saw a carving of Emily's face fading onto my bracelet. I touched it to go back to the Basement, when Mike aimed the gun at Emily. My eyes darted to the gun in Mike's hands. I intervened, "Guys, listen. I'm sure that in the flame thrower dudes bag, he has to have written something about the bites. We don't have to skip to conclusions.
Mike sighed, "I want to believe you Y/N but, we can't take any risks."
I began to get stressed, snatching the gun from Mike and shooting at the ceiling, "Read... The...Fucking...Diary...BEFORE I DO SOMETHING I'M GOING TO REGRET!?"
Mike backed off, passing the diary to Ashley.
