Chapter Four: First Birthday and a Party, Then Shopping and a Pretty Train

     (Sofie's POV)

     "Mommy mommy wake up! It's my birthday!" I say, jumping on Mommy's chest. She sits up and puts me in her lap, hugging me hard. 

     "I love you, pup. And nothing anyone will ever do could change that." I smile. 

     "What're we doing today, mommy?" she smiles back.

     "We're going to have a party, Sof!" I smile and sit on the bed as she changes my bandages and gets dressed. She then looks me over, smiling and walking to her trunk. she pulls out a package. 

     "So I wore a dress just like this on my sixth birthday. Do you want to wear it?" she asks, pulling out a sparkly black dress with a poofy blue skirt. I nod and she helps me get it on. 

     (Anella's POV)

     I look at my daughter, wearing my dress. She looks much like I did at that age, but with light hair. I smile, picking her up and letting her get on my shoulders. I hear chattering in the kitchen, so we're the last ones up.

     "Make way for the birthday girl!" I yell at the top of the stairs, coming down with her on my shoulders. I set her down so she can take in the hugs. We walk to the kitchen, where Remus is waiting. He stands to hug me. 

     "You came." he smiles. 

     "Of course I came, Annie. She's my niece. We've missed five birthdays already, and I'm not about to miss another one." He hands me a letter. "This came this morning. Why didn't you tell me you were writing to him?" I shake my head. 

     "Because, Remus. I'm the only one that believes him, because clearly you don't. So I like to know where he is." I snap, ripping open the letter. 

     Annie, 

Congrats on the job at Hogwarts! I'll be glad to meet you at the Shrieking Shack whenever you please. It'll be good to see you again. Please tell little Sofie happy birthday for me.

     I stuff it in my pocket before anyone can read it over my shoulders. Molly emerges from the kitchen, a steaming plate piled with pancakes trailing behind her. 

     After a few hours of activity, Molly begins to freak out. 

     "Annie, we're going to have to cut this short. We still need to go to Diagon Alley. Harry's there and the children need to finish their shopping." I nod. 

     "Hey Sof! We're going to do cake and presents now!" she runs over to me and we walk inside, where the twins are finishing with a cake. 

     "Wow, Fred, George, I must say I'm impressed." they shrug, picking Sofie up and putting her at the head of the table. We sing happy birthday, eat cake, and finally get to the presents. 

     "Okay, kiddo. Who's first?" she thinks.

      "Fred and George!" They give her a big tube and I look at them. They smirk as she tears it open. 

     "Mommy, look! A broom!" Molly glares at the boys as I hug them. 

     "Fred, George, you shouldn't have." 

     "But we did." they say, amused by Sofie's beaming. She eventually lets me put the broom away and chooses Percy, who gave her a potions book. She tries to act excited, which Percy falls for, then disappearing to study.
