“Get up!” My twin, Alexander yelled. His friends call him Xander. “I’m up!” I shouted. My name is Alexandra. My friends call me Lex, Alexa, or Xandra. My family is all werewolves except for me and my mom and me. My mom is a lynx. All the boys got the wolf and I got the cat. My dad and brother’s wolf have short hair like a cat and I have long hair like a wolf. Weird, huh?

I made my way to the shower. I am not as popular as my brother but being the Beta’s daughter, I’m pretty popular. I’m tan with long black hair, vibrant blur eyes, and a flat stomach. The warm water of the shower relaxed me instantly like always. Being a lynx I am always on edge.

After washing my hair and everything else, I got out and wrapped myself in a towel. I stepped out of the bathroom and went to my huge walk-in closet. I knew instantly what I was going to wear. I grabbed my boot cut jeans, a white off the shoulder blouse, and a brown leather jacket. I also grabbed my brown heeled boots.

I make my make up look natural. There was a pounding on my door. I groaned. “Come in!” I yelled. I was busy curling my already curly hair. I always do this to make it look neater. “Your brother told me to bring this up since you are fighting with your parents,” Aaron said. The Alpha. “Thank you, Alpha,” I said bowing respectfully.

“Call me Aaron please. You are my best friend’s little sister,” he said. “Only by a minute,” I whined. He chuckled. “Therefore you are like my little sis,” he said. I smiled at him. I took the plate from him. “Mmmm. Bacon and pancakes, my favorite,” I moaned. Aaron laughed.

“Oh! Happy birthday, Aaron,” I said. He thanked me and sat on my bed. I still hadn’t looked at him. “Are you ready to find your mate?” I asked. “Yeah, but I am not looking forward to all the girls,” he said. I nodded. “Well when you find your mate, she’ll make them leave you alone,” I said. He laughed.

“Okay, I’m done. I’m going to my car. Bye,” I said. “Can I ride with you?” he asked. “Um… sure,” I said. We walked out the door and downstairs. “Hey, Xander! Alpha is riding with me,” I yelled. “’Kay,” he said.

I led Aaron out to my 2012 Camero. “Nice car,” he said. “Thanks. Xander got it for me on my sixteenth birthday,” I said. “Have you found your mate?” he asked. I am four months older than Aaron. We find our mates at sixteen. “No, I looked but no such luck,” I said. “Oh, you’ll find him one day,” he said. “I hope. I already had to shift by myself,” I said. “Were you scared?” he asked. “Terrified,” I said.

I started the car and headed towards Banesville High. There was dead silence in the twenty minute drive. I had the radio on to fill the silence. “Xandra you know you don’t have to avoid eye contact with me,” he said. “Oh, but you know the law,” I said. “I don’t care, just look at me,” he said. I nodded and pulled over. I turned to look him in the eye.

The world stopped. Mate! Mate! my wolf chanted. I got lost in his grey eyes. “Mate,” we whispered at the same time. His eyes widened. He leaned in and kissed me. I immediately responded. He bit my lip but I didn’t part my lips. He growled and bit down harder. I gasped and he took advantage of that and plunged his tongue in my mouth. The sparks were amazing.

We pulled back. “Alpha-” I broke off when he growled. “What?” I asked. “Don’t call me that!” he snarled. Before I could blink his hand smacked my cheek. Tears sprung in my eyes but I didn’t let him see. I didn’t need to be hit again.

I started the car and drove the rest of the way ignoring him. I parked and hurriedly got out. I made it over to my circle of friends. Most of them are human. “Hey, Alexa. What happened?” Callie demanded. She is human. “I hit myself with a shampoo bottle. It’s nothing,” I lied. Aaron’s head snapped towards me. Regret evident in his eyes.
