~Chapter 3: Seeing Them Again~

“Mommy, I told you they were here,” she said. “Adalena! Remember your manners.” I scolded. “I’m sowwy,” she said. I saw my ex-mate and my brother. “Xandra?” Xander said. “Hey bro, come here a moment. Call me Alexa,” I said.

Xander stepped forward. My boys growled at him causing Xander to hesitate. “Boys! He is family and you will treat him as such. But the rest of them… do whatever you want to them,” I commanded. Jason has left me in charge of this bunch. They all bowed their heads except for Lena and Gage. Lena whimpered. I spun around. “Mommy,” she whimpered. I ran towards her and took her in my arms. “Xander this is my biological daughter, Adalena. She is two,” I said. A growl sounded. “She looks like her father,” I said. “She has some of your traits,” he said. I nodded.

Aaron stepped forward. My boys growled. I raised my hand and they ceased. “You mated and had that mutt?!” he snarled. Oh, I know he did not just call my daughter a mutt. She whimpered. I looked to see Aaron growling at her. I let out a fierce hiss. He turned to me. I let my lynx take over.

I shifted into my lynx. I heard a small pop. Adalena is a lynx like me and lynxes shift at two months. The shift is painless for us. I nipped at her ear and grabbed her with my mouth. Gage stepped forward only because he knew that I would not hurt him. He took her from me.

I turned back to Aaron and hissed. He stepped back in fear. My eyes were crimson. “Xandra can we talk about this?” he asked. “You made her angrier. She hates ‘Xandra’” Gage said. Aaron growled and that’s when I snapped.

My lynx was out for blood. Aaron shifted into his midnight black with blue wolf.

Me being a cat, I am slimmer, quicker, and more cunning. After a minute of assessing him, I pounced.

There were gasps from his pack and cheers from mine. I kept Aaron far away from Lena. Nobody made a move to stop us. I clawed at his face earning loud whines, yelps, and whimpers. Soon he passed out and my lynx gave me back control.

They carried Aaron out and Gage gave me his shirt. I shifted and pulled it on. “Shoot! That was my fave outfit too,” I groaned. Everyone in my pack laughed. “Lena shift back,” I said. She jumped out of Gage’s and scampered off. I knew she was going to her room to change. Gage looked at me with pride. “I am taking the pack out to dinner,” a familiar voice said.

We all turned to see James. He had been gone away for two weeks on Alpha business. “James!” I squealed. I jumped into his arms. He caught me and chuckled. “Hey, little sis,” he said. Small pounding feet barreled down the stairs. “Uncle James!” Lena yelled.

“James let Xander come. His pack is moving to the available territory next to us because they like Nevada,” I said. He nodded. I needed to talk to Xander about Mom and Dad because I don’t see them. “Alexa I need to talk to you and Gage later,” he said. “Okay. Xander can you watch Lena later?” I asked. “Yeah I want to get to know my niece anyway,” he said. I smiled and went to get ready. “Gage get Lena ready,” I called. “Okay,” he replied.

I stepped into my room to see my best friends from before I left. Dianna, Nicky, and Red sat on my bed. They were furious. “Hey guys,” I whispered. “Why?” Nicky asked. His voice cracked. I whined at his pain. “I am so sorry! Aaron was my mate. He got mad and hit me. I couldn’t stay. At first Gage and I didn’t get along. After two years we dated. We fell in love. After two years he marked me. We then got married. Two years after that Adalena was born. Nothing else happened until now,” I sobbed. They came and hugged me. Then they left so I could get ready.

I stepped into the shower and tried to relax. My lynx would be on edge till we were around Gage and Lena. After showering, I went to my closet. Gage has his own. I grabbed my purple one-shoulder top. The sleeve is long but loose. I grabbed my dark blue boot-cut jeans and my light purple wedges.
