There were blue flames everywhere. Everything was on fire. The Mystery Shack. The forest. The people. Yet everything was silent. Not a sound could be heard, other than a slow, drawn out laughter.
Dipper woke up in a cold sweat. The laughter was still ringing in his ears. The hairs on his neck were still standing on end.
"Dipper? Are you awake?"
Dipper glanced around. Who was that? Did Mabel just call him? Wendy? He couldn't tell. All he could hear was the menacing laughter.
Pacifica walked through the door. "You're finally awake. Mabel was starting to get worried. You kept tossing and turning all night, mumbling about a fire."
Dipper glanced up at the girl. It was only a dream. A nightmare. Everything would be fine.
"Oh, yeah. I was having a bad dream. Its all okay now," Dipper said to the girl. Pacifica stood there kind of awkwardly, glancing from the ground, up to Dipper, then back to the ground.
"Actually, we were all worried for you. You've been asleep, almost in a coma, for the past day. Your eye was glowing the entire time."
Dipper reached up and covered his right eye. Is goggles had been removed sometime in his sleep.
"... Dipper?" Pacifica started. Her eyes were still cast down to the ground. "I'm scared..."
Dipper glanced up. "What for?"
Tears glistened in the girl's eyes. "Because I don't know what's going on or why. I'm afraid of what could happen." A tear rolled down her cheek and her voice began to crack. Pacifica could no longer hold in her feelings she had kept hidden.
Dipper just sat and stared.
"And I know that everything should be fine, but what if it isn't? What if everyone gets hurt in all of this chaos?" Pacifica wiped away her tears. "I wish everything would just go back to way it used to be."
By the time she said this, Dipper had stood up and walked over to her. Pacifica stopped wiping away tears as Dipper suddenly gave her a hug.
"Don't be afraid, Pacifica. Everything will be fine. Nothing can hurt you, or anyone else, down here. And besides, we're going to win this fight. And everything will go as back to normal as possible."
Pacifica looked into Dipper's eyes. She began to cry again, but this time from relief. Dipper gave her another light hug.
Mabel walked into the room. "Dipper! You're up. I just came in because I heard something. Is everything alright?"
Pacifica glanced at Mabel. "It is now."
Mabel smiled. "Well that's good, but we've got some trouble. Come to the control room."
Dipper left Pacifica standing in the door way as he followed Mabel down the hall. They entered the control room where Soos, Stan, and Ford had already gathered. The three of them were all starting at the screens on the walls.
Nothing was on them.
"What happened to the security footage?" Dipper asked.
Ford turned around. "We don't know. They just shut off. As far as we know, it wasn't caused from down here. Soos and I already checked what we could from down here. The only way to find the problem and to fix it is to go up there." Ford pointed up above to the ceiling. "And we need to fix it fast. We don't want Gideon able to sneak up on us."
The people on the room gave a nod. They knew how important it was to see outside. The only concern now was who would do the fixing. And yet, no one wanted to leave the safety of the bunker.
