Nicole's POV

"Skylar!" I shouted at the person in front of me. I'm incredibly pissed off by what happened earlier. Wrestling with an alligator? really? "Are you sure this is the right way?" I removed all the twigs, leaves, moss, and bugs on my wet, spoiled clothes. There are leeches too. Flippin leeches, don't go sticking onto people who don't want you! I pulled them off of my clothes and kicked them away.

"This is the way," Skylar halted. "The map said it should be near." I faced her while pulling a twig out of my hair. How dirty could a damn swamp be? "Aren't you going to use a gps or something? Gugle maps maybe?" She sighed. "You don't expect a forest or a swamp to have data reception, right? Besides, that place is hidden from humans. Do you expect them to just slap it on gugle maps that is created by HUMANS?" She kinda has a point there...

Skylar looked at her compass. The arrow kept spinning clockwise."You broke it," I grinned. "You're dead! Your mom's gonna kill you!" She faced me with a bored expression and murmured. "How is she going to do that? She's dead?" She stared at a nearby willow tree for a moment and decided to sit under it. "Eh, same." I meant that as a joke but who cares? I know her momther is dead. I was just trying to piss her off for dragging me here. In a flipping swampland! My insult seems to be a success based on her expression earlier.

"It's your fault why we're lost!" I accused. I mean, why drag your best friend to a swamp and suddenly tell her to wrestle alligators while you search for a damn reception? Skylar just shrugged and removed her brown witch hat. Her hat even has a face. It has a mouth, two feline teeth, two endless black holes for eyes and two small orchid orbs. One on each socket. It has the expression on someone screaming in agony. I just remembered, I gave it to her.

"If you didn't cross paths with that wild alligator earlier, we wouldn't have ran and got lost!" Skylar just smiled and covered her face with the brim of her hat. Bitch won't even answer! I raised my foot, about to stomp on her stomach when something stopped me. "Meow," Skylar and I both faced upwards to see a cat, as black as midnight. It's right eye was scarred over while the left was deep blue hue. It jumped off of a tree branch and landed gracefully on the ground between me and Skylar. "Meow," It purred again then ran away.

"It's telling us to follow it," Skylar stood up and ran after the black cat. Oh yeah, she can understand animals. Our mentor taught her how to communicate with animals since she's a witch... That's not fair. I saw her following the black cat. He only taught me how to understand faes. I started to follow her but I felt something watching me from behind. I quickly turned to the direction it's coming from. Nothing. Just an ordinary looking bush. I was about to approach it when-

"Nicole!" Skylar shouted from the distance with the cat beside her waiting patiently. She was waving at me to follow her. I took a quick glance at the bush. I can't feel the presence coming from it anymore. Where did it go? What was that? I asked myself. I shrugged that feeling off as I ran towards Skylar and the black cat.
