Third Person's POV:
What do you want Cauchemar?
Easy. I want you to let me take over your body.
I won't let you do that again.
Oh, please, Belle. Of course, you will, you just need a little shove first. And by the sounds of those screams, it won't be long until you will want me to take over your body.
No, I won't let you.
Whoever said it was your choice? Maybe you'll be on the verge of death, or on the edge of madness if you have to continue listening to the tortured screams of the one you love.
I know that Ghastly will eventually notice that I'm gone or Stephanie will get help. They'll come to rescue Skulduggery and me.
Are you sure about that? Are you sure that they even care that you're missing? Sure they'll care about Skulduggery. Who wouldn't? He's the skeleton detective. He's the important one, and I think that you can already see how he's slowly replacing you with Stephanie.
He hasn't replaced me. He would never do that. He may not love me like I love him, but we're still friends.
How do you know that he's not just babysitting you for the Elders? He has mentioned before that the Elders like him to keep an eye on you.
So what? We're still friends. He still wouldn't be able to replace me with Stephanie.
Hmmhmm... I'm sure that's true. I mean why would Skulduggery replace someone who will always remain loyal to him and only him?
But I'm not only loyal to him... I promised my loyalty to Nefarian...
But you only did that so then he would stop torturing Skulduggery. And going by those screams, he didn't keep his word.
Okay... So maybe he didn't keep his word. But he'll let me out and then he'll stop torturing Skulduggery and then Ghastly will come and save us. Maybe even get the help of the Elders.
Okay, then. So, Ghastly comes to rescue you and Skulduggery. What if he doesn't get the help of the Elders? Then he'll be up against Serpine's army of hollow men and Serpine himself. Do you really think that Ghastly would be able to beat that?
Maybe not... But I have faith in all of it. He will come and we'll get out of this dreaded hell hole.
If you say so... But don't get your hopes too high. You never know what may happen.
