Thomas and I were hanging out again in my dining room when he stopped and looked at me nervously. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion as he spoke, "Gracie, I have something for you." He pulled out a yellow piece of paper and held it out for me to take. I opened the note and it read in scribbly handwriting that Thomas liked me more than a friend. He called me pretty and ended the note with saying that I am his best friend. I didn't know how to reply, How could he like me? Every other guy says I am ugly and they even told me that no one would ever like me like that anyway. I liked Thomas that way, but he had to be playing a joke on me. I took the note, kind of brushed off his comment and pulled him into my room to continue hanging out.
The next two weekends he couldn't come, until right before he was supposed to come over his mom called and told us that they were moving. Five thousand miles away. He didn't show up the day after that and soon, I was told by my mom and they had already moved. He didn't even say goodbye? I knew he didn't like me like that, but he was still my best friend. He promised we would always be best friends and he just moved away?
