The first thing you noticed after waking up was that Cody, your boyfriend, wasn't next to you anymore. Last night after dinner with his family he had asked you to stay over and since neither your nor his parents had a problem with it you spent the night cuddled up together in his childhood bedroom.
After dinner you had sat on his bed and watched Netflix before snuggling under his embarrassing hockey-print bedspread.
Now, in the morning, Cody was gone although the side he had slept on was still warm. You contemplate for a minute if you should just roll over and wallow in the warmth and Cody's smell or if you should get up and look for him. In the end you decided to get up and search for Cody.
At first you tried the bathroom upstairs but the door opened easily and you weren't at that stage in the relationship were you could simply walk into the bathroom while the other was using it yet. The house was awfully quiet with exception from quiet radio music coming from downstairs. You quickly followed the sound and found yourself standing in the kitchen doorway.
Cody was standing in front of the stove. His hair was sticking up in all directions and it was obvious that he didn't brush it after getting up this morning. He was still in his sleep shirt and boxers and was frying something in a pan. By the smell it seemed to be bacon.
He still hadn't realized your presence so you shuffled closer and quickly wound your arms around his middle. His back was warm against your front as he let out a low chuckle.
"Good morning sleepyhead."
You hummed a bit in response and cuddled closer to him.
"You know this was supposed to be a surprise breakfast in bed, right? And you're kinda ruining the surprise by being up already."
God was he cute. You really hoped the two of you would continue to be this way in the future once he settled into the NHL and you've found a college nearby. You would get a nice little flat together and could decorate everything and have teammates over for dinner and cuddle up on the couch on weekends. It all sounded so domestic in your head but you loved it.
"How about ... I'll help you make breakfast and then we'll go back to bed together?"
He turned around in your arms and pressed a kiss to your forehead.
"Sounds awesome. Can you watch the bacon while I start with pancakes?"
