By the time I was heading home, the sun had already set, the sky now illuminated by twinkling stars. The rest of the night was spent with the boys being as silly as ever. It was good to be around people where I could just be myself. With my other friends, we just sat around. With the boys, we were always up to something, even if it was simple.

"I'll drive you home," Daniel whispered into my ear, causing me to jump.

Turning around to face Daniel, I shook my head. "Thanks, but no thanks. I can walk home, it's not that far," I told him, smiling politely.

I began to walk away when I felt a warm hand on my left arm. Turning once again, I came face to face with Daniel. Somehow, he had managed to get his car keys. I watched as he pressed the unlock button to his car.

"It's dark. It's dangerous. Hop in," Daniel told me, sounding more like a command than anything.

Huffing, I followed Daniel out of the backyard. He pushed the wooden gate, letting the two of us out into his driveway. The street was dark except for the beams of light coming from the tall lampposts lined up, each a few metres apart.

Daniel and I walked down the concrete driveway in silence to his car that was parked in front of the house. He opened the passenger side for me, so I thanked him, climbing into the car and shutting the door behind me. Soon after, Daniel opened the door to the driver's side and got in, buckling his seat belt.

Daniel pressed the button to start the car. Checking behind him, he pulled onto the road, driving away. I stared out the window, looking at the road in front of me. I then realized that I would probably have to deal with my parents when I got home.

Daniel began singing an unfamiliar tune quietly. I glanced over at him, smiling. He had such an amazing voice. I was glad him and the boys had started a band.

"What song is that?" I asked Daniel curiously.

The lyrics to the song were so captivating and sounded like they had a deeper meaning. They weren't about sex or alcohol or drugs like all the songs on the radio.

Daniel grinned, turning his head to face me. His eyes lit up as soon as I brought up the topic. Daniel's blue eyes locked with my brown ones.

"It's a song that the boys and I wrote. It's going to go on our EP," Daniel explained happily, his hands leaving the wheel to move and motion everything as he spoke.

Our eyes stayed connected, before a loud honk snapped me, as well as Daniel, out of our gazes. His hands immediately flew to the wheel, but it was too late.

The car slammed into a large oak tree that was on the side of the road. The impact of the car colliding with it caused me to fly backwards, my arm banging on the glass window roughly. I groaned due to the pain, turning to look at Daniel.

A piece of glass from his now shattered windshield had managed to cut down his cheek. He was already on his phone, holding it up to his ear.

As soon as he hung up the phone, Daniel looked over at me. "Are you alright, Aaliyah? I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have taken my eyes off the road. It's just I got so excited when you asked about my music and I would have never ever expected us to get in a collision," Daniel breathed, speaking very quickly.

I placed my hand on top of his, hoping to calm him down. Daniel's breathing began to slow down and he looked up at me, smiling slightly. I returned the smile, hoping he knew it wasn't his fault.

"It's okay, Daniel. I'm okay," I told him.

The two of us decided it would be best to leave the car. I moved my right arm to open the door, but instantly winced in pain. With every movement of the arm, it felt like thousands of tiny, burning knives were stabbing into it. Instead, I brought my left hand to the handle, opening the door and stepping out.

As I stepped out, Daniel immediately ran over to me. He began checking my body for anything that was injured. As his hand grazed my right arm I whimpered at the pain it had caused. His hand immediately left my arm and his blue eyes met mine, laced with concern.

"What happened, Aaliyah? Is your arm okay?" Daniel asked softly.

I nodded, shooting him a small smile. "It's fine," I said to him, not wanting him to worry.

"It's not fine. You're hurt and it's all my fault," Daniel spoke, his voice beginning to crack. "Please, darling, tell me what's wrong."

His blue eyes were glossy, and his face was pleading. I didn't want him to feel guilty, but with that look, he was guilting me. I huffed, beginning to speak.

"I hit my arm pretty hard on the window when the car collided with the tree," I explained. "It's fine though," I quickly.

"I'm so so so sorry. A police and ambulance are on the way, though, and then you can go to the hospital," Daniel said.

We were now at the hospital. I was sitting on a hospital bed, my arm in a very awkward position, still. They had just performed x-rays on it, confirming that it was broken.

Daniel came into the room, a small smile on his face as we waved sheepishly. He had been in a room himself to make sure he was unharmed. He, indeed, was, except for the cut on his face, which he needed to get stitches for.

The same doctor who had been in the room when I first got here walked into the room. He held a clipboard in his hand, reading it thoroughly, before looking up at me and Daniel.

"It's a good thing nothing bad happened to either of you. We're going to wrap your arm up, and with parent consent we'll release you," he said.

I nodded in comprehension. The doctor prepared everything for my cast, and soon enough it was on my arm. The doctor left to go attend to other patients, leaving me alone with Daniel.

"I'll call my parents so they can check me out," I told him.

He nodded, taking out his phone to probably do the same. I dialled my dad's number, which was quickly picked up.

"Aaliyah, where the heck are you?" his voice shouted, booming into my ear.

"About that. I'm at the hospital right now. Can you come check me out of it?" I asked him.

He answered yes, hanging up so he could get here quickly. I turned back to Daniel, who was on the phone right now. He hung up, facing me with a smile.

"My mom is picking me up, should be here soon," Daniel told me.

"Okay," I responded, not sure what else to say.

Suddenly, Daniel was right in front of me. His blue eyes stared down into mine, before travelling down to my lips. Glancing up at him, the small space between us was suddenly closed, his lips on mine. Closing my eyes, his lips warmed mine, the pairs moving in sync. Pulling away hesitantly, I gave Daniel a questioning look.

"Tonight reminded me how quickly things could go badly. Just in case I ever lost you, I wanted to make sure that happened," Daniel explained, smiling sheepishly.
