It was the Monday following the hectic weekend Daniel and I had. Yawning, I placed my backpack on the table and took a seat next to Zach and Daniel. I was glad to be back at school, away from my parents.

"Hey, sleepyhead," Zach greeted.

I rolled my eyes, opening my backpack and taking out a slice of pizza in a Ziplock bag.

"I can't help it. Miss Umbridge's class is so boring, and her voice is so irritating. The only way to get through the eighty minutes is to sleep," I shrugged, taking a bite of my food.

"I know right," Jonah said, joining us at the table. "I thought Harry Potter characters didn't exist in real life."

"Oh Jonah, there you are again, going on about Harry Potter," Daniel joked.

Jonah just rolled his eyes in response. "Harry Potter is the greatest series out there. Right, Aaliyah?"

That caught the attention of the me, catching me in my half asleep state. I shot up at the sound of my name, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.

"Not the greatest, but yeah, Harry Potter's good," I responded, taking a bite of the greasy pizza.

Shortly after, Jack showed up at the table. He took a seat next to Zach, stealing a cheeto from the younger boy.

"Hey!" Zach shouted, slapping Jack. "You can't just take what doesn't belong to you."

Jack shrugged, "Sharing is caring."

Zach just slapped Jack again. He stood up from his spot and walked around to the opposite end of the table, trying to get away from Jack.

"Where's Corbyn?" I asked, noticing that the group was much less quiet without the presence of the blonde boy.

The boys all looked around, seeming to have just noticed their friend wasn't with them. Zach just shrugged, licking the orange dust off of his fingers.

"He said he'll be here shortly, he just needed to grab something," Jonah told us all.

As if on cue, Corbyn came running through the cafeteria, a bag from the local grocery store in his right hand. He plopped it down on the table in front of me.

"Aaliyah, open it," Corbyn told me.

I opened the bag, pulling out the contents. Gasping, I instantly grinned and pulled Corbyn into a hug when I saw it. It was a birthday cake.

"How did you know?" I asked Corbyn, smiling from ear to ear.

"You left your wallet at Daniel's house, so we looked at your ID and saw. All five of us decided we wanted to do something different for you," Corbyn explained.

All the boys nodded, also smiling. I hugged each one of them individually, thankful for them. Even in the short time I've been friends with them, they've became somewhat like a little family. I never had this type of bond with the people I've been friends with for years.

My hug with Daniel lasted longer than the others, and when I pulled away, his hands lingered on my waist for a bit longer than necessary. I tried to ignore the fluttering feeling in my stomach, but it was useless.

"Oh!" Zach called out, causing Daniel to pull away from me. "This isn't all, by the way. There's more to come. Be ready by 7."

I nodded, turning my attention back to the cake sitting in front of me. "So, are you boys hungry?"

author's note:
i am so so so so sorry for not updating in like three months. i could blame it on many things- midterms, pats, no wifi- but it all comes down to me being uncreative and lazy.

but, today is my birthday, which is the inspiration for this chapter!

if you guys have twitter or instagram, maybe could you tell the boys that it's @ syreseavey 's birthday? if any of them said happy birthday to me it would honestly make my day. i'd be super appreciative if you helped me out, but if not it's ok

take care, lovelies!
