I woke up the following morning to my phone buzzing loudly. Opening my eyes, I felt cold rain drops cover my skin, but a warm patch rested on my waist. Looking down, I saw Daniel's muscular arm draped across me tightly. I turned in my spot to face him and saw his eyes closed, a smile on his face.

Reaching into my pocket, I fished my phone out of my pocket. My dad's contact name was displayed at the rob of the screen. I pressed the red decline button, Sighing as I sat up.

The small movement caused Daniel to wake up. His eyes remained closed as he sat up next to me, his arm still wrapped around my waist.

"Where are we?" Daniel asked, yawning as he slowly opened his eyes.

I looked around before my eyes met his. "We must have fell asleep last night."

Daniel rubbed his eyes as they widened. He stood up quickly, pulling me up with him. I wiped the wet grass off my legs and arms to the best of my ability. My cast was now wet on one side, green grass stains covering it.

"You're going to catch a cold if you stay out here for any longer. Come on, let's go back to my place," Daniel said. "I'll make us some hot cocoa and we can bake cookies."

I nodded, putting my head on Daniel's shoulder as his arm wrapped around my waist. We walked down the trail to go to Daniel's house. He sang quietly under his breath, causing me to grin happily.

Things seemed to be perfect when I was around him. All bad thoughts were blocked from my mind. It was him and me— me and him. Two kids just enjoying ourselves.

"Can I read when we get there?" I asked hopefully, looking up so my brown eyes met his bright blue ones.

Daniel rolled his eyes, a grin on his face as he looked down at me. I gave his hand an encouraging squeeze, giving him my best puppy eyes.

"Okay, okay. Only because you're hurt," Daniel told me, lifting my arm and placing a kiss on top of my cast.

I stood on my tiptoes and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you, you're the best!"

We soon arrived at Daniel's driveway. The two of us stepped out of the pouring rain and into the comfort of Daniel's dry house. His mom immediately ran to the door, pulling us both into a tight group hug.

"Oh, thank goodness! I've been looking for you all night, Daniel. I'm glad you're safe and with Aaliyah. I called all the boys and none of them knew where you were. You kids look cold, I'll grab you some clean clothes and put them in the dryer so they're warm," Mrs. Seavey spoke quickly, hugging us once more. "I'm sure Anna will have some clothes that will fit you, Aaliyah."

I nodded, thanking her as she headed upstairs. Daniel turned back to me laughing, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Sorry about my mom, she's quite over protective," Daniel chuckled nervously.

"Nonsense. She just cares about you," I told Daniel.

Daniel's mom walked back down the stairs with a handful of clothes in one hand, and two towels in the other. She handed a towel to both Daniel and I so we could dry off from the unexpected rain.

The dryer soon beeped. Daniel took my hand and we both walked over to it. He handed me a pair of grey sweatpants and a black hoodie.

"That's my hoodie, don't you dare wreck it," Daniel teased, pointing out the washroom.

I quickly entered it, changing out of my denim shorts and the previous hoodie I was wearing, which happened to belong to Daniel. The past night was such a blur, it felt like it had occurred over a span of months.

(a/n prolly bc the author is slow af and updates once every two months smh)

I slipped on the sweatpants which seemed to fit perfectly. I assumed they were Anna's and not Daniel's. Pulling Daniel's hoodie over my head, I held it close to my nose and admired his calming scent.

Once I finished changing, I folded my clothes and slipped them into my bag. Walking down the hall, I pushed open the door to Daniel's room. He was facing the opposite direction, his back towards me. I never knew a back could be so muscular. He slid on his shirt, turning around as the door latched closed.

"I was hoping we could spend the day cuddling and watching all the High School Musical movies," Daniel said, smiling sheepishly.
