Emily's POV
"Are you sure you're okay?" Dante asked for almost a hundredth time.
I was in my bed, sitting with my legs crossed. A blanket covered my legs. Dante sat with me.
"I'm fine. What happened out there?" I asked him, trying to change the subject. I could see he was going to ask me I don't know until when. It worked.
"We couldn't save the girl. There were too many of them. And we were too late. If Sky hadn't done anything," he shook his head. I cringed at the thought. He would have died. Both of them. All because of me.
"But you do know he didn't do that on purpose?" I whispered to him. It was getting darker outside.
"I know. None of them can control their powers. I shouldn't have taken you down there. It's too dangerous."
"But they didn't do anything to harm me. They are innocent." I tried to defend them. I still wanted to go down there. I had a lot of questions.
"Did Sebastian shock you?" Dante asked. I cringed at that. He grimaced, which means he noticed me cringing. "I thought as much." He added in a whisper.
"But I still want to go down there." I told her.
"Okay," was all he said. That went great.
"Can I...ask you something?" I hesitated. Maybe this is not the time, but I still want to know. They couldn't just drop the bomb on me and expect me to keep quiet about it. I had the right to know.
"Sure," he said with a smile. Again, I hesitated. I took a deep calming breath, "Why are we connected to each other? Are we the only ones or is it just a common thing?" That came out a bit rushed.
He took his time before answering. "The legendary says there cannot be more than one mated angels. It disrupts the universe for the humans, the heaven for us. We are not the only ones, but being the second ones, we are hoping the numbers won't increase."
I frowned. I thought that mating was a good thing. "Why is it not a...good thing?" I couldn't help but ask.
He looked at me. "If you and I were to..," he struggled to find a word. "If you were to breed my child while you're still human, chances are you might die. You've got the archangel bloodline, but you'll still be human. That's...not the best thing to do."
"Why?"
He sighed. "Do you know the Twilight Saga?" He asked me. Who doesn't know thee movie? I nodded. "Now, the physical pain of carrying the fetus is similar to Bella's. But there's more. The spiritual connection between you and the baby is not very pleasant. Especially if the child has multiple powers like us. It can control you from the inside."
I didn't understand why it would be a bad thing. As if sensing my confusion, he added, "Emily, you have to understand Angels are not as good as you think they are. We have no emotions. We have to blend in with humans by adapting to their feelings. The child can do inexplicable things and they won't know what's right or wrong."
"It would be nice to not feel anything," I mumbled. "Does that mean you don't have emotions?"
He smirked. "No. When you look at the scene before your eyes, it might trigger something, and it might not. But it's all up to you. Once you've converted, we'll be linked by all things. I mean...all."
All? "How?"
"First of all, you'd still be new, so I'll have to start afresh. But it doesn't have to be like that. One thing. You might not be able to keep your hands to yourself." After saying that, he smirked.
