"She's going to think I'm a psycho or something," I mumble as Luke and I walk up the stairs.
"Of course she won't. My mum's not a judgmental person." Luke explains.
"She'll see I was crying."
"No she won't, you don't even look like it. Besides, even if she does, she wouldn't dare to ask. Trust me." He tightens his grip on my arm. I sigh.
Luke and I sit next to each other and at the dinner table across from our mothers. No one mentions anything.
"So, Ashley, do you attend school?" Liz asks.
"Not since I was diagnosed," I tell her. "It was hard to concentrate and I had bad bullying issues, so I got taken out." I shrug. Liz nods, but I see the sympathy in her eyes.
"Does Luke go to school?" Mom asks. Luke opened his mouth to speak, but his mother beats him to it.
"Not for a little over a year. Doctors said he should be pulled out, so I pulled him out." She says. "Thats how he met Calum. You know Calum, don't you, Ashley? He goes to the Group."
I nod.
"He and Luke have known each other forever. Calum wanted him to go to the Group, actually. Luke was convinced nothing good would come from it, but he was obviously wrong. You came from it!"
The fact Luke's mother believes that I am something good that came into Luke's life made me happy. I've never really been the cause of happiness for someone.
The rest of dinner went by peacefully. I honestly enjoyed myself.
Luke and I sat in his large living room together, watching Modern Family.
"Who's your favorite character?" He asks, nodding to the television.
"I can't choose," I shrug. "You?"
"Gloria." He smirks. I laugh. Of course she is his favorite.
"What was your favorite thing about Australia?" I ask him out of the blue. He ponders on my question for a moment.
"The fact that all my family is there. It's been lonely without them. Don't get me wrong, I love being with my mom, it's just--"
"I'm sorry." I cut him off. My question was uncalled for. I should have figured he'd have some attachment to Australia still.
"For what?"
"The fact that you're lonely. And that I asked that question, I guess."
"Ashley, it's been lonely ever since a month ago, when I met you. You made me feel as though I'm not alone."
I look away from his eyes immediately. I felt embarrassed, and I don't know why. I should feel flattered, but I don't.
I feel Luke shifting. I think he's going I lift up my head, but he just chuckles and pushed a strand of my hair behind my ear.
I make him feel like he's not alone in the world. Does he make me feel the same? Yes. No. Yes. No, I shake my head. No.
I desperately want to change the subject, so I look around the room, eyes wild, until they land on a closed piano.
"Do you play?" I ask, waving to the piano.
"A bit," he shrugs. "Mum plays it more than me. She taught me. I want to teach her guitar, but I think she prefers the piano much more." He stands up and walks over to the piano, lifting up the flap that protects the keys, opens the song book, and plays the Family Guy theme song. I laugh and get up, walking over to Luke.
"You make that song sound angelic," I tell him. He looks at me and smiles, laughing. I tap his arm and he scorches over. I sit next to him.
I read theme song's notes and smile. I begin to play.
"It seems today, that all you see, is violence in movies and sex on TV," I laugh. Luke joins in.
"But where are those good ol' fashioned values, on which we used to rely?" He drags out the 'rely'. His voice is better than I thought. He laughs and wraps his arm around my shoulders.
"This is how I write songs," he says.
"Yeah. Sometimes I sit here with Calum and make up a tune. I haven't written one in like, a month."
"Why?" I ask.
"No inspiration."
I smile sympathetically. "You'll find it soon, Luke. I promise." I rest my head on his shoulder. He runs his fingers up and down my back.
"I will Ashley. For you."
I smile, and I know he feels it against his shoulder, because I could feel his jaw widen.
It was late. I could tell. My body clock was slowing down and my eyes were getting droopy.
"I love you, Ashley Marie." I think I hear Luke whisper, and I probably would've said it back if I hadn't fallen asleep right then.
HI OKAY I HAVENT UPDATED IN YEARS AND IM REALLY SORRY IVE BEEN REALLY BUSY AND PLUS REGENTS ARE NEXT MONTH SO IM A BIT CONSUMED IN THAT BUT I SWEAR IM GONNA TRY MY BEST TO WRITE MORE FREQUENTLY
