In a last effort to keep herself alive, Isabelle Lightwood sliced her whip over the last three demons. It was over. The war was finally over. She turned around expecting to see everyone behind her waiting to celebrate. That's when she remembered what had really happened.
She remembered how before the war had started, both downworlders ans shadowhunters had come together to fight the war against Sebastian. She remembered turning to her left and seeing Simon, Maia, Jordan, and the rest of the downworlders that had allied with them. Then she turned to her right, stood Jace, Clary, Alec, Magnus, Jocelyn, Luke, the rest of the Lightwood family and even Tessa Grey and James Carstairs -Who had turned out being really good looking.
Then the battle started. They were winning, it was almost over, when everything started to go wrong.
First, Clary had been impaled by Sebastian who had sliced his seraph blade across Clary´s back. Isabelle had yelled for her to look out, but it had already been too late. That´s when Jace ran over and killed Sebastian, his face full of anger and pain as he registered his wife´s body.But then a demon had stabbed him on his back. Jace hadn´t even fought against it. he fell next to his wife´s body, hugged her close. Neither of them moved again.
After that it had all been a blur. All Isabelle knew was that everybody she cared about - Alec, Magnus, Clary, Jace, even Maia and Jordan- were dead. That´s when the realization that she was completely alone downed in her heart. Isabelle started walking out of the bloodbath, not looking at the bodies. That's when she stopped dead on her tracks, suddenly remembering something. She looked down, and placed a gentle hand against her belly, for there lay the baby that was unknown by everyone but her and Simon. And there, not able to hold her grief any longer, she fell to her knees and cried.
A while later she felt the strong familiar arms around her. She breathed in relief as he whispered in her ear, "It´s fine... It will be fine, we are together," he paused, "You'll be Isabelle Lewis now" Simon said and she smiled.
