Inexorable

II: PREFACE & PLAYLIST

His eyes, two dark oases of indigo toxin, glint with a wrong kind of light. A slightly amused grin slips almost delicately onto his lips, all with the grace of a falling angel as he observes the object in his hands. Gingerly held between two fingers is a black gem the size of his palm, bearing a reflection-one that is not his.

"Ah, so this is my infamous beloved."

Raven black is her hair and almond shaped eyes; pale frosted glass her skin. The girl does not see him as she strides past the poorly hung mirror on the wall. She does not hear his laughter, a sinister, soft drumming igniting from within his chest, the sound of it seeping out of his mouth like poison. The girl fixes her name tag then shrugs on a coat before leaving the room. Vera Adelaide, the tag spells in black, bolded letters. What an innocent name for such an innocent girl, he thinks.

Slowly sliding the gem into his pocket, he gets up from his seat and quietly murmurs to himself as he leaves his room. Outside the door stands two of his oh-so dearest, companions. They speak to him, in a language unheard of by most. Our young sire, what hath you decided to do anent the fair maiden?

He responds to them, out loud, with a pitiful look casted upon his face. "She doesn't know anything. Oblivious to our existence, so beautifully ignorant to the world around her. It is a shame, really. Such a precious, innocent little angel- I will remember to make her death a quick one." Turning away from his companions, he quietly makes his way to the dining hall.

Out of earshot, he whispers under his breath, "Beware the ides of March." An undeniably twisted smile stretches his mouth.

as i have not introduced myself already, i'm sophia nguyen, and i'm the creator of this entire shabang. before all else, i do want to want to include a little disclaimer that there will be occasional parts that include violent themes  (war, violence, blood, etc) 

all characters and places in this series is entirely made up and are created by yours truly, so if things seem geographically impossible or if you're wondering why the map (which will be shown in the next chapter ) contains countries that look like animals, it's because  animal shaped kingdoms are a thing in this world, kapeesh?

also please note! all of the places  mentioned in this book are entirely made up, as well as the languages and people. once again, these kingdoms and places are purely fictional.

all artwork goes to their rightful owners, and only the edits are mine.

also side note, i like highly suggest you guys listen to the playlist because it's actually -if i do say so myself- quite interesting. the last song is in vietnamese, which is my native language, and it's a song thats absolutely beautiful.
