Hey guys! Sorry it's been so long, and school's starting tomorrow, so updates will still be a bit slow. Anyway, thanks for reading, feel free to comment, and hope you enjoy!

The days quickly passed for Keith. Every day, he'd take a scanner with him and race across the desert, tracking the energy. He almost didn't need the scanners though. He felt it.

It did burn up a lot of gas though, so whenever he had to wait to go get more, or whenever he was inside, Keith watched the small retro television that sat of the coffee table.

The imaging and resolution was absolutely terrible, but Keith somehow managed. He got kind of irritated with the device every time he had to adjust the antennae, which was rather often. But, it allowed him to see the news reports as the Garrison began investigating the Kerberos disappearance.

He listened to the recordings between Shiro and the control center, how Shiro reported a successful landing. But after that, there was nothing. No video or communications from the ship or pilots whatsoever.

It's been a month and a half now since Keith left the Garrison. One and a half painstaking, heart aching months.

Keith sort of tracked the weird energy, not just because he was curious, but also as a distraction from how lost he felt.

Why did Shiro have to go in the first place? If I'd been there earlier, I could've gone on the mission and Shiro could've stayed safe on Earth... It's not like Iverson or anyone would miss me.

These thoughts and many more buzzed repeatedly in his mind since the announcement of the lost pilots. They had began to consume him. If it wasn't for the energy, Keith wasn't sure what he might've done with himself...

Keith was once again racing across the desert, the scanner in front of him on the dash of his bike. A dust cloud trailed behind him before settling to the sand once more.

He was nearing a canyon patch he wasn't familiar with, but pushed on without slowing. Caves littered the area, more than Keith had seen in the other areas. That's when the tracker went crazy, the needle bouncing back and forth rapidly.

Keith was partially worried he'd broke the machine; technology wasn't always his strong suit. He'd just as soon punch the gizmo rather than look through it for a problem.

Then, he slid to a stop in front of a specific cave. It wasn't that different from the others. It wasn't bigger, it didn't have any specific landmarks or anything eye catching. But the energy was stronger at the opening than Keith had ever felt before.

He slipped off his bike, grabbing some supplies in a backpack before staggering through the entrance, almost in a daze, the energy drawing him in as effectively as a physical hand behind him nudging him along.

It quickly got darker, and Keith fished out a flashlight, the beam hovering around the tunnel. Then he spotted the carvings.

They were everywhere, just inside the entrance, so they wouldn't be seen from the outside unless you went inside. Keith circled this spot on the map he had in red marker, then he started taking some pictures for his theory board.

That's when he noticed the carvings took lion shapes/themes. He took a few more pictures before creeping over and brushing his hand on one. He managed to brush some dust off, but other than that, nothing really happened.

Seeing that the sun was going down, he headed to the exit, knowing he'd return tomorrow as soon as the sun rose. He paused by the exit and drew his knife out before etching a sort of check in the rock, to make sure he came back to the right cave.

He mounted his bike once more and sped off. Keith hadn't realized it, but the crude, jagged checkmark he had formed was now shaped like a V with wings, a symbol he would soon stand by with his life.
