You wiped your eyes and got out of bed for the second time today. You hadn't known how much hate comments could hurt. You grabbed your laptop and loaded up YouTube. Watching a few videos would help you. Whenever you got like this, all you needed was a little laughter. Once you built up your wall again, you would be able to hide your pain. You scrolled through your subscriptions and saw that Dan had posted a video a few minutes ago. You clicked on it waited for it to load. An ad started playing for some toothpaste company. You skipped it. Advertisements were frustrating. Suddenly, the video started up.
"Hello internet. Today I want to talk about the comment sections on videos. I watch a lot of videos and I write a lot of comments. When I see the comments that people like you write, I'm either proud or disappointed by them. Comments are a big part of a YouTuber's life. We read them to see what you guys think about what we do. Though many times I see comments that are unnecessarily mean. Things that are just not true. Rumors that one person starts and several others believe and spread. Today I watched one my friends videos. I recently did a collab with them, and the fact that their comment section was filled with hate was extremely disappointing. They did nothing wrong. Just because they don't have a million subscribers, some people decided they weren't worthy of being in a video with Phil and me. That's wrong. It's a horrible way of viewing YouTube. No one should be judged because of their subscriber count. I hope that those of you who sent comments like that to anyone on YouTube is sorry for it. And those of you who are disgusted by the idea that someone could do that, good for you. That's all I have to say. Because this video was not my usual type, I will be posting another tomorrow." Dan ranted in a defensive manner.
You sat on the bed and listened as Dan ended his video. You clicked out of the video and quickly realized that Phil had made a similar video. When you watched it he said the same basic things as Dan. But he also said, "I still get hate comments, and they still hurt to a degree. But I've learned that the people who write those kinds of comments are just sad or upset at their own lives, and they feel like if they hurt other people it will make them feel better."
You looked and saw that Manda and Lexi has both made videos about the same topic. Manda had kept a cool head and addressed the situation calmly. Lexi gave a lecture to all the people who watched her video on the ettiquette of writing comments. All of your friends were supporting you. And Phil was right. These people who were hating on you weren't worth your tears. You didn't need to build a wall this time. You actually felt better. Next time you felt upset, you would just call up your friends and ask for comfort and advice from them. You smiled. The fact they thought of you and wanted to defend you meant a lot to you. Especially from Dan, he had given a lecture, similar to what Lexi had done, but with a bit more composure. He had defended you with the vengeance of a best friend, but he e wasn't your best friend. Yet he did it anyway. All of them had risked losing subscribers. You needed to thank them. Maybe with some cookies...-----------------------------------------------------------
A/NSorry for the shorter chapter. I have a job now, so I have to sleep or I won't be awake for work. I hope you enjoyed it anyway. What do you guys think you should do to thank your friends? >•< 🐱
