Present Day
Stefan Salvatore was a name that Eleanor wanted to forget, but she couldn't when he was sitting beside her on their joined rooftop as she sipped from a bottle of whiskey. He hadn't replied after she had told him that he used his head and not his heart, but in a way - he knew she was right.
He was pining after a girl who didn't love him back and loved someone else, yet the better option was next to him. Eleanor was the most amazing woman he had ever dated, yet he still chose Elena over her. Maybe it was the fact she killed his unknown sister, or maybe it was because she left him for eighty-odd years. Stefan didn't think he'd ever find out the reason why.
The one thing they both needed right now was silence, for Eleanor to calm herself down and for the youngest Salvatore to think about his choices. He couldn't continuously save the Hemmings', he was contradicting himself when he said he couldn't love her. But neither of them couldn't deny something was there.
"Eleanor-" Stefan began but she interrupted him,
"Don't," She told him in a whisper, a shaking hand pressing the bottle of whiskey against his chest, "If you don't want to make things worse then don't." And with that, she scooted further down the roof whilst wobbling on her two feet. Then with one last glance at the Salvatore, she entered through her bedroom window.

After Alaric had been killed by Klaus as a quick way to find the location of the stake, Stefan decided to check up on his own brother's process. Klaus had snapped Alaric's neck and it would only take a small amount of time before he woke up again.
"There you are. Any sign of Evil-laric?" Damon joked, a smirk on his face as he waited for his brothers snarky reply, but it didn't come,
"Nope, only dead Alaric." Stefan replied, making the oldest Salvatore stop in his tracks and his eyes widen. His best friend was dead, but he needed to know if he was wearing the Gilbert ring or not.
"What?" Damon stuttered, wondering why his brother would torture him this early into the process. The youngest Salvatore brother was never one for torture, only when his Ripper self returned from the dark pit of his mind that it lived in.
"Don't worry, he was wearing his ring. Klaus was here, let's just say he's not very patient." The green-eyed Salvatore assured him, causing Damon to keep walking towards the motel that Elena had offered to rent in Denver. They had to save Jeremy from Kol, which they had.
"Kol must have told him we were in Denver," Damon tutted, rolling his eyes, "How long has Ric been out?" The dark-hair brother asked curiously, leaning against the doorframe of the motel.
"A few hours. I'm hoping when he wakes up, it won't be him, it'll be the other him." Stefan answered, knowing that if it was his alter-ego that woke up, it would be easier to get the truth out of him.
"And if not?" His brother asked, causing Stefan to inhale sharply - knowing he'd have to resort to more methods.
"Yeah, I know. Whatever it takes. So, were you able to contact Rose?" Stefan questioned him, trying to divert the topic as far from Eleanor as he could. She had walked out and he didn't know where she was, but she was a vampire - she could handle herself. The girl was bound to come back soon.
"Yeah, no answers yet. So, we're just stuck in this motel until she gets back to us." Damon groaned, knowing that Jeremy and Elena were never fond of him. Well, the doppelgänger was confused about her feelings for him, so in a way - she was almost too fond of him.
