Where is the love that they speak of so much?

Why doesn't it make us suprised, why does it ruin our peace?

just as she said, she was back at starbucks the next week with her usual drink in hand and her laptop sitting in front of her.

ashton walked over to her, she looked up from her laptop screen.

"hey ru," he told her.

she smiled at him. "hey ash."

"can we talk?" he asked, pulling the chair across from her out and plopping himself down on it.

she nodded, her smile fading. "uh, sure."

"well, first," he heaved a tired sigh, running a hand through his dark golden hair. "how was your trip out of town?"

"it was quite nice." she hummed. "i visited my mum who lives out in bristol, down by the beach."

"so you're from bristol." he concluded.

"yep."

"and you study at the university here?"

"mhm."

"which one?"

"polytechnic university of london." she replied, beginning to look uneasy with each quesion he asked her.

"hey," he started, deciding to change the subject, "wanna go over to my flat to meet my mates?"

she gulped nervously. "i can't."

"why not?" he asked.

she bolted up from her seat and gathered her belongings quickly, stuffing her things into her school bag. "i can't. i don't have time."

when she had all her things put away, she walked past him, heading for the front door. this time, he followed her quickly, without taking his eyes off her. he knew she was so evasive, that even taking his eyes off her for one second would be enough for her to disappear.

he followed her out the door, asking, "why can't i know the real reason why you won't meet them?"

"ashton, i have to go." she told him, continuing to walk down the empty morning street without looking back at him.

as she tried to walk away from him, he grabbed a old of her wrist, turning her to face him. "ruby, wait."

"i hardly even know you." she pointed out. "we've only seen each other like, four times and already you want me to meet your mates?"

"that's not important." his hazel eyes stared deeply into her big brown eyes. "i will make you forget the entire universe if you'll give me the chance."

pulling her arm out of his grip, she told him, "the truth is, ashton, i think you're moving too fast. and i think its not healthy for you." her eyes watered as she breathed in a sigh. "i think we should stop seeing each other."

"no..." he begged.

"yes, ashton." she said. "i'm sorry." were the las words she told him before she walked away.

it was the sixth tuesday.
