Fro-yo and swings

The rest of the day passed by quickly and James and I were going to hang out and get some frozen yogurt after school. I haven't hung out with him in a while and I really missed him. Plus he was great on guy advice so maybe he could help me. I walked outside and saw James leaning against my car waiting patiently for me and watching the football team run around the parking lot shirtless like they always did right before practice.

"Enjoying the view?" I asked as I got closer. His head snapped towards me and he chuckled.

"Oh Yeah! I swear it's a sin for some of those boys to look so fine. Are you ready?"

"Yeah. Stop drooling and get in the car." I joked while laughing a little. James rolled his eyes and pretended to wipe his mouth.

We pulled out of the school parking lot and turned on the radio to our favorite station. It was only the commercials right now so we turned it down a bit.

"James, I need your advice." I said after finally deciding that he could help me better than anyone else right now. He was awesome on what guys think. He is a guy after all.

"What's up Emma?" James said while turning to face me and looking at me with his eyes showing concern.

" Okay. Well, I like Tyler..a lot."

" .....And? What's so bad about that?"

" I'm scared! What if he hurts me like Henry did or What if he completely changes again and becomes a jerk?"

"Oh Okay. Well I have actually been hanging out with Tyler a lot and he kinda told me somethings about his past relationships and you."

As soon as James said that my stomach erupted with butterflies and a million thoughts swarm through my head but before I could freak out I had to know the facts first.

"What did he say?"

"I can't tell you! I'm sorry Emma. I really wish I could but he made me promise not to tell you and I can't just break a promise like that."

"You're right," I said sounding defeated. " It's against guy code or whatever the bond is called between boys" James laughed a little and nodded.

"Yeah it's against guy code."

We pulled up to the store and went in to get our frozen yogurt. After nearly making a mountain of toppings on it we paid.

"Let' go to the park and eat it, " James said while motioning to the door with his head.

"Okay but we should walk there. It's a really pretty day and I don't want to waste anymore gas," I said laughing.

James nodded and we started walking peacefully to the park. We didn't say much but it wasn't an awkward silence. After about ten minutes we reached the park.

"I'll race you to the swings!" I said childishly while getting a head start.

I heard James laugh and then his pounding footsteps trying to catch up. I started to run faster knowing he was going to win. I ran up and touched the swing surprised that I won until I looked back and saw James just standing there.

"Did you let me win?" I asked

"Maybe....." He said in a sing-song voice and plopped on the swing next to me.

"Aw you're such a gentleman," I joked while laughing.

We sat on the swing finishing our frozen yogurt until a black Chevy truck pulled into the parking lot next to us. Jake, James' brother, got out of the car and walked up to us.

"James! What are you doing here?"

"Eating frozen yogurt with Em. What about you?"

"I'm getting you because Mom had that big family get together tonight and you were nowhere in sight!"

James' mouth fell open and his eyes got huge.

"Dang it! I completely forgot. Mom is so going to kill me."

I let out a small giggle and shook my head. James is somehow always forgetting things his mom plans but maybe its because his mom plans so many things. She loves partys, not because she wants to get drunk but because she can show off her huge house and all the things they have in it. James and his family are really rich but they don't act like the stuck up snobs that you would think they would which is why I love them.

"I'm so sorry Em! I have to go home. Do you need a ride to your car?" James asked.

"No it's okay the walk won't kill me. I'll see you tomorrow at practice though."

James nodded and then ran off towards the car.

"See you later!" He yelled back.

Jake followed him and then pulled off like they were auditioning for the fast and the furious. I shook my head and watched all the little kids play on the playground. When I finished my yogurt I got up to leave but before I could stand up I felt a pair of hands push me on the swing. It wasn't hard enough to make me fall but just enough to get the swing swinging.

I turned around quickly hoping it was someone I know. Thankfully it was the guy I have been thinking about all day. A smile quickly found it's way to my face as soon as I looked into Tyler's eyes.

"Hey, why are you all by yourself? There could be some BAD people here," Tyler said while plopping down in the swing that James sat at a few minutes ago.

"I'm sitting on a swing in the kids playground. What bad person would come here?" I said mimicking his voice when I said bad.

He laughed and started to look around. Finally he pointed at a little boy, who looked to be about six, that was sitting in the grass.

"Him! I don't know about you, but I think he was planning something before I came over. Just look at the way he's sitting there."

I burst out laughing so hard I had to hold my stomach. When I finally calmed down I looked at him and shook my head.

"Yeah. I'm sure he's up to something. Anyways I didn't come here alone. James was with me but he had to leave because his mom is having another family thing. What are you doing here?"

He never stopped smiling the whole time I talked.

I thought about how the conversation has gone so far and smiled. We were actually getting along and honestly, it was really nice.

"I had to take a break from unpacking so I went on a walk. Then I saw this beautiful girl siting on the swing by herself and I had to come and save her from creepy little boys. "

I quickly ducked my head to keep him from seeing the blush that made its way to my face. He was obviously talking about me. I smiled really big and looked back up at him.

" Well thank God you did. We wouldn't want her to get hurt."

Tyler let out a small chuckle and said, " No we wouldn't."

"So, you said you had to take a break unpacking. I'm guessing that means you have moved into my house..?"

"Yeah I have. Now you have to deal with me all the time."

I laughed and shook my head.

"I don't think I will mind," I said while smiling.

"Really? Well on that note we should head home. It's getting dark."

I looked up and realized about a hour had passed since we started talking. I stood up and nodded.

"Yeah you're right. Come on walk me to my car and I'll give you a ride home."

He smiled and started walking. I quickly caught up with him. After walking for about 3 minutes I felt a warm hand grab mine. I looked up at him and saw him looking at me with uncertainty in his eyes. I smiled to him for approval and kept walking.

Tyler's hand felt perfect entwined with mine. We reached my car and as I got the keys out of my bag he grabbed them from my hand and walked to the drivers side.

"What are you doing?" I asked while looking at him curiously.

"Driving. Now get in the car."

I shrugged my shoulders and climbed in. As soon as I got settled he grabbed my hand and off we went. I could already tell this next month was going to be amazing.
