I looked at Clara and Rose in front of me, waiting for one of them to speak. They both had big smiles on their faces.
"Stella," began Rose. "There is something we have thought about for a very long time. We understand if you don't accept it, but....we really hope you at least think about it."
"Roooose," I whined. "I've been waiting for a week. I want to know!" I brought a smile to my face, letting them know I was eager.
Clara smiled. "We want you to live with us."
I smiled, an actual smile. "Are you serious?!"
Rose nodded. "Nothing is holding you back. You can finally live here."
My smile fell. "I can't though."
"Why not?" Rose asked.
"My foster family isn't there to care for me anymore," I replied. "The government will send me to a foster home."
Their smiles came back on their faces. Clara walked to kitchen and came back shortly after with a folder. "That's why we would like to adopt you," she said.
"Only if you want to that is," Rose said. "We don't to force you to do anyth-."
I cut her off by hugging her. "Thank you. Thank you so much." I stepped back and looked at Clara. "Both of you."
Clara handed me the folder and told me where I needed to sign. Then Rose signed, followed by Clara. I was officially their daughter. This was the happiest I had been all week.
The rest of the day was spent with all of us on the couch watching movies. I was snuggled between Clara and Rose. This was the first time I had felt so loved.
"Stella," Clara said. "You know you have to go to school tomorrow, right?"
"...Do I have to?"
"I'm sorry dear but you have to," Rose said. "You haven't went all week."
I shook my head on her shoulder.
"Have you heard from her?" Clara asked.
My throat got dry and my heart hurt. I shook my head again.
"Are you serious?!" Clara half-yelled. "You go through living hell and you haven't heard anything from her?"
"No," I said, hating how cracked my voice sounded. I cleared it and sighed. "It's fine though. I don't care."
I stood up carefully, ignoring the looks of concern they gave me. "I'm kinda tired so I'm going to bed. Goodnight you guys."
I heard their goodnights as I walked up the stairs to my room. I closed the door and grabbed my phone from my dresser.
S: hey
S: alayna?
S: I know you're reading these
S: please answer me
She refused to text me. She hasn't called me. I couldn't just give up though. I mean she was still my girlfriend, wasn't she?
No, she isn't. She doesn't care about you.
I shook my head and sent another text.
S: Alayna please! I'm still your girlfriend and I haven't heard from you in a week. I'm worried.
I dropped my phone and brought my knees to my chest. To a point, I hated texting her now. I knew she would read the messages but she would never reply back.
