Ring, Ring, Ring! The ear piercing school bell sounded marking the end of our 'fun filled' school day. (That was sarcasm by the way). It was a Friday so Nicole and I decided to go home together because we were having a sleepover. Just as I stood from my seat and turned around ready to make my way to go get Nicole from her class, she was standing right at the door ready to go.

"You have impeccable timing girl." I told her smiling.

"I know! That's why you love me so much you know." She remarked cockily. "So, lets get out of this hell hole." She added and like that, we begun walking towards the gate. We-thankfully-both lived in the same compound, right across the school in fact so we would normally walk home together. It was more like a city rather than a compound. The name of the large group of apartments was even called 'Sun City'. It was a widely stretched group of old apartment blocks following one after the other in rows all the way down this steep hill which extended down into a flat area only to escalate into another hill on the other side of the compound. My house was one of the houses closer to the main gate of the place and Nicole's was further down in a block labeled 'R'.

"Let me just drop my bag and change and I'll be right over aight?" I told Nicole,

"Okay!" she yelled as she paced down the hill to get to her house and get things ready before I came over.

"Hey mum!" I screamed in my mum's irritated face as soon as I walked into the house.

"Darling, do you have to scream?" she asked helplessly, as if she was so tired of me and I laughed.

"Absolutely! Just to annoy you because I love you so much." I smirked "Anyway, today's a Friday so I'm off to Nicks. I just came over to drop my bag and get some clothes. I should be up tomorrow maybe around twelve because I think ill chill with her for a bit. Is that okay?" I informed my mum of our plans and asked for her permission.

"That's fine darling. I'm going to the gym tomorrow so if no ones home, just stay at Nick's for a bit." She told me.

"Okay." I said and made my way towards my brightly lit, blue room to get some pajamas and my toothbrush to go over to Nick's.

As you can see, my mum and I have an amazing relationship. We are so close and we're always joking around. We live alone, my mum and I. I have a sister who also used to live here but she's much older than me and went to university abroad so now, it's just my mum and I. welcome to our humble abode.

I grab some baggy patterned hippie pants, a plain comfortable t-shirt to wear for the night, my toothbrush, some slippers and I make my way to the door.

"MUM!" I shout. "I'm off!" I say after a second of silence.

"Alright Live. See you tomorrow." She replies after such a long-lasting period of silence. I was even starting to get worried.

By the time I was walking down the hill, it was getting dark even though it was only around six thirty in the evening. The estate was so loud around this time. It was because of the fact that it was a Friday. Normally on Fridays, everyone's home and there's no school so the younger children of the community come out to play after school because they don't have to worry about homework or sleeping early to wake up early the next day. The population in this place was stunning. There were so many children always running around and making the place sound like it was a park with a full playground. You'd hear them shouting whilst racing their bikes and skateboards, others yelling for their friends to pass the ball in their intense game of football. Walking past the little gate for the pool area was always so worrying to me because id always imagine being stopped by some child who wants to converse with me and I honestly do not like children.
