I waited silently for my mum to finally fall asleep and for it to reach a point where the house was pitch black as the heavy blanket known as night falls over the sky. 'AHA! Now!' I said to myself as I went on my mission to melt the metal grills trapping me in my room. Still in silence, I grabbed the ultimate tool for the job-though; I have absolutely no idea what it's called. I switched it on for about half a second to test out how much noise it makes and to my surprise, the thing was as silent as a whispering mouse (if that makes any sense at all). Hurriedly, I opened the curtains silently but dramatically and began to burn into the metal bars shielding my window. They melted instantly and were left with glowing, golden, heated edges of metal marking the point which they'd been burnt through.
They cooled rapidly and immediately returned to their normal temperature, same as outside. I strapped my rucksack to my back tightly and proceeded to jump out of my window, making my marvelous escape. The landing onto the muddy damp ground under my window was...

'Damn!' I cursed myself mentally as I woke up from my slumber. I must've fallen asleep whilst I was waiting for my mum to actually fall asleep. Anyway, I got my head in the game and gained ultimate focus as I snuck round the house trying to listen for any sound or see any light shine. Thankfully, my mum was asleep. 'The world is on my side today!' I exclaimed to myself.
'Hey, I hope you're still awake because I'm coming over and I'm going to need you to open the door' I warned Nicole with a text hoping that she's still awake and will reply to me.
'Yeah I'm still awake. I'm home alone so we can chill.' She replied in lightning speed.
I put my phone away safely in my bag and strapped it onto my back as I made my way tiptoeing down the short corridor in the house to get to the door that was on the other end and staring right at me. In one hand, I carried my old, worn out pair of shoes and in the other, a picture of my mum because I was going to need it.
I slipped the key into the door and turned it with care. Still not one sound was made as I slid my body past the tiny opening I made for myself in the door. Only one last task was remaining until my 'mission' (as I've been calling it) is complete. I had to lock the door of course. I slid the key in its rightful place one last time and locked the door. I was successful!
I practically skipped down the stairs in happiness and once I got to the parking that was littered with cars, I sprinted straight down the hill towards Nicole's house.
'Ring, ring ring' I impatiently rang on the doorbell waiting for her to open the door.
"Jheeze Live, what's the rush? And why do you have a bag?" she asked curiously.
"I may or may not have decided to escape from my house because I had the worst argument with my mother that hurt my soul and stuff because she told me I couldn't do it and I felt worthless so I'm kind of going to prove her wrong and make a record or something in order to do so." I said all in one quick sentence and as each word escaped my lips, Nicole's eyes widened.
"You did WHAT!!" she practically yelled in my face.
"Okay you know its like 2am right? Could you keep it down? People are sleeping girl." I stated as I walked straight past her and into her house because I was starting to freeze out there.
As I was explaining to her briefly what had happened, I couldn't help but think that I was slowly spiraling. Did I make this spontaneous decision all because I could feel myself spiraling? Will I regret all of this when it's done? Hah! Probably not because I need to do this to show my mum that I can do it and to also show myself that I can because for a second, I believed that I couldn't.
"Hello?" Nicole questioned as she waved her hand across my face binging my thoughts back to reality.
"Did you hear anything I just asked or said?" she continued and I answered with a sorry shake of the head.
"Okay well, I asked what exactly you are planning on doing and when will you go back home if not tomorrow? I strongly think you should sleep on it and go back home tomorrow morning and talk it out with her because you two always do that and you love each other, and..."
"I'm gonna stop you right there Nick." I interrupted her from her flustered speech.
"To answer your multiple questions, grades are out and she wasn't proud of me. We had like this huge ongoing argument-I wont get into much detail of that- but I stormed out after we discussed the fact that she told me I couldn't follow my dream and I knew that she pretty much also meant that ill have many regrets. I got so mad because I was thinking that the grades weren't even terrible and she's my mother. She should be supporting me through this! Not giving me the largest amount of shit about everything that honestly is uncalled for. So, to conclude, I'm not mad at her per say, because I know she's doing it with the best intention and that she loves me but, I just want to prove her wrong and show her that I actually can do what I've been dreaming of doing, that I will do it and that she should believe in my dream you know." I finalized.
"Alright... and how exactly will you do that?" she asked me one last time, clearly lost.
"I am going exploring in the deep waters. Marine biology isn't easy Nick and neither is all of the mythology history I'm obsessed with so I'm going investigating." I informed her of my plan. "You know what, come with me." I said, which sounded more like a command rather than a question.
"You can't be serious?" she stated slowly in disbelief.
"I'm dead serious babe. Listen, I've known you and been this close with you for about five or more years now and to be honest, we've never been closer. Also, did I forget to mention that I've always loved you? Yeah cool so, think of this as my informal, bloody early promise proposal. Come with me Nicole. It'll be fun." I finished with a smirk at the end, eagerly waiting for her answer.
"For what its worth, I love you too man and just one last thing, how the hell will you even get a boat and learn how to sail fully or get a crew so you don't kill the both of us?" she asked-what I hope is- the last question and I could tell she was worried.
"Nick, I never pictured you for the worrying type eyy. The roles are reversed." I mocked. "I feel this sudden spark of energy in me! Come on I'll tell you the entire plan..." and as soon as the sentences left my mouth and before she could even reply, I dragged her arm down her corridor and straight into the room banging the door behind us. The rest of the very early morning was spent planning for the future until eventually we slept, ready to commence planning the next day.
[HEYYY! This one's a bit short but worreva! I hope yawl still enjoyed and are eager to read the next part to some extent. Thanks for reading and don't forget to share this book! <3 ]
