Part 23

The next day Sonakshi woke up at 4 am she was tired due to last nights session she blushed remembering the way she acted. She turned over and saw Dev peacefully  sleeping. She picked his forehead and went to freshen up. Yes today was her very first karva chauth . After half an hour she came out only in her petticoat  and blouse. She draped a red color saree that Ishwari had given and said that this was what she wore on her first karva chauth.  The blouse was of dev's taste he had personally  gone to the tailor despite all teasing he had it made. It was a simple sleeveless blouse and revealed her milky white skin on her back. She put the red sindoor  in her partition and headed downstairs. Ishwari blessed Inakshi and then gave her the food which she had made. She was explaining her the rituals. She had the last bite of wheat for the day and also the last drop of water. Of course she was nervous as how would she survive the whole day without water as food was not a problem as she had gone on hunger strikes when she dieted. 

Around 10 am Dev woke up and saw Sonakshi busy arranging the wardrobe. On realizing the time he said
" Sonakshi why didn't you wake me up I am having a meeting in an hour and you"
Saying so he rushed to freshen up. After 15 minutes he rushed out of the house while everyone was dumbstruck by his behavior.  Never did he miss his breakfast nor did he shout on Sonakshi. He also never skipped his breakfast then what was it today.

Ishwari saw Sonakshi a little upset
" Sonakshi don't worry I know he never meant it,  it may be just because of his meeting stress "
"  maa  I know but at least today he should not have kept a meeting see everyone's husband is with them today and Dev.... Uff I can't believe it. He was the one who said that he will be with me the whole time right maa and now see ......  Anyways maa what else do I have to do. "
"  Sonakshi now you have to put henna on your hands and hide his name in it so that he could find it. The darker your mehnadi  is the stronger is your love "
Saying so Ishwari makes her sit while a girl does her mehnadi design
"  didi what is the name of your husband"
" Dev.. But please write it in Bengali I want it to be tough for him"
"sure did"
Saying so she did as instructed

Sonakshi was busy with her daily chores. It was 4 pm by now and she was really wishing that the moon would show up early so that she could have a feast. She was starving.

Time flew and now everyone was waiting for the moon to show up so that they could proceed
" maa has Dev come yet"
" no does he even remember what is today "

On the other hand Dev was busy with his meeting. He had an instinct that he was missing some thing. He checked the calendar and clicked on today's date
" oh shoots!  How could I forget?  Today is karva  chauth.  Sonakshi was all dresses up she even gave hints of this and I am such a moron that I couldn't guess.  I should run else she will eat me up instead of the food "

He was driving at full speed but looks like God wanted him to be late.  The moon was out but a jam was there.

By now everyone was done with their part and had headed home but Sonakshi had not eaten anything.  It was past midnight and till now there was no sign of Dev.
" Sonakshi forget the rasam  and have something plz" Ishwari was begging for the tenth time for her to have something
" no maa as I have told I will complete th" saying so her vision blurred and she fainted.
" bhaiyaa" Ishwari called him and with the help of a few more people they made Sonakshi lie down in her room. Mamaji called the doctor

On the other hand it would take another 10minutes before Dev could reach home but alaa his car broke down  but Dev was determined to reach home he was praying that Sonakshi would have eaten something till now

" Doctor how is she is she okey"
" Ma'am she should not have kept this fast  and if she did she should have eaten something  as.. "
"  as"
" she is pregnant"
" what??"
" yes she is three weeks pregnant "
"  wow how is she.  Is the child ok"
" hmm the child is fine and so is the mother but"

" she needs proper attention she has many complications  and these incidents may prove fatal buy it was a good thing that this time both of them are Okey but the first three months are very crucial if anything happens in these few months then... I am sorry you may lose the child... And God knows maybe the mother also"
" what"
" yes and anyways I have given her a glucose injection she should gain consciousness  in an hour or so but do Mark my words"
"yes doctor "
Saying so the doctor  the doctor left. Just as he was leaving Dev enters and is shocked to see the doctor
"  Dr  you.  What happened"
" Mr dixit your wife fainted and " he explains the whole thing
"  thank u doctor "
Saying so he rushes to his room and sees Sonakshi lifeless. Ishwari spots him
"  Dev when did you come where we're you why didn't you pick up the call"
" maa my battery was dead and I was stuck in the traffic then my car broke down so I ran all the way and on top of that I forgot today was karva chauth "
"  what you forgot.  Do you realize how Sonakshi was feeling. God knows today what could have happened "
"  I know maa  but nothing happened to her and till I am here I won't allow a scratch to come to her.  Maa you bring her food I will feed her I know she has not eaten anything"
Ishwari goes and just then Sonakshi wakes up  and was angry on seeing  Dev
