I thought me and Tavian were gonna head back home after leaving the mall, but he asked me to bring him to a nearby park. He kept texting somebody on his phone but wouldn't tell me why he wanted to go to the park. About fifteen minutes later, Mya pulled up at the park with Londyn. I hid it well, but I was a little annoyed that he'd pulled that crap on me. I knew he didn't know it but I really wasn't feeling Londyn like that and didn't appreciate the set up.
"I missed you," Mya said to Tavian the moment she climbed out of Londyn's dark purple colored Audi A8.
"I missed you too, boo," he said back before hugging and kissing on her.
"Get a room you two," Londyn said while rolling her eyes.
I rolled my eyes too, because just thirty minutes ago he was making plans to have sex with the girl working at Subway in the mall's food court. I looked at Londyn and asked, "That's your car?"
"Mmm hmm," she replied. "Not as big as your truck, but it gets me where I need to go."
"That car is more expensive than my truck. If my dad would've got me an Audi, I would be too scared to even drive it."
"Okay, it's not that expensive." She climbed up on the park bench beside me and asked, "Why haven't you called or texted me yet?"
"You just gave me your number yesterday. I ain't wanna come off as thirsty. I was gonna call you tomorrow."
"Oh, okay. So, are you really single or did you just tell me that because your girlfriend is all the way in Philadelphia?"
"I'm really single, shorty. I don't have a girl."
"Are you looking for one or are you one of those kinds of guys?"
"What do you mean by that? What kind of guy?"
"The one that's only looking for some easy ass." She folded her arms and stared at me as she waited for me to reply.
"Look, if I like somebody then I like them and I go for it. If I don't then I wouldn't even give them the time of day. And if I just want some easy ass then I'd say I want some easy ass. I'm the straight-forward type." I was bullshitting, of course; but she didn't have to know that. I knew if I said the right thing, she'd eventually settle down and stop asking me so much shit. I pointed to Tavian and Mya and asked, "Are those two always like that?"
"Pretty much. When they're not kissing all over each other, they're arguing. Trust me, you don't even want to see that. They fight just as much as they kiss." She stared at me for a while before saying, "You and Tay are nothing alike."
"Why you say that?"
"You're much quieter than him."
"We have a lot in common though."
"I can't tell. Tay is always flirting and all that. I know he's probably messing around behind Mya's back."
"What? Nah, I've been kickin' it with him since I got here."
"Mmm hmm, sure. I know how you guys do. You get a girlfriend and then you still do messed up shit outside the relationship."
"Shorty, why you keep lumping me in with other dudes? That ain't me."
"But you probably are hiding something."
When she said that, I tensed up. There's no way she could've known about me so I knew I was only trippin'. Still, I realized I had to be more assertive with her or she would end up questioning why I seemed so uninterested. I was hoping to push off asking her out until I absolutely had to but it would be too risky to keep doing what I'd already been doing.
