"I can't believe she turned out to be a vampire," Tony sighed. "I really thought we had hit it off."

Jaime laughed, looking over at Tony with happy, slightly drunk eyes.

"She must've got the shock of her life when you burned her," Jaime grinned wildly.

"I didn't mean to," Tony whined. "I did it by accident."

"You're a trained Elemental, how do you burn somebody accidentally?" I laughed, raising my eyebrows quizzically.

"We were kissing and then her teeth came out and..." Tony paused, trying to think of the best way to phrase it. "And I panicked and burst into flames."

"Well you ruined our whole night," Jaime teased. "You just had to go and almost die."

"Vic seemed to be having a good time though," Tony grinned, biting his bottom lip as he did so.

"Which means what?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"He's talking about Alex," Jaime said, trying hard not to smile and failing. "We were seriously considering leaving the two of you together."

I looked at them in confusion. "...why?"

Jaime glanced at Tony before he spoke. "You guys seemed to be hitting it off."

I sighed, closing my eyes in frustration. "Please stop trying to hook me up with people."

"Well, if you would just admit that you have feelings for Kellin," Jaime chided, "maybe I'll stop."

I glared at Jaime. "I don't."

He shrugged and plastered a smile onto his face. "I guess that means that I'm just going to keep at it."

"How have you not grasped the: 'I want to murder him' concept yet?" I groaned out. "It's my only recurring argument."

"Have you spoken to Alex since?" Tony asked.

I swallowed. The reader's words had been ringing in my head since our meeting. I couldn't seem to break away from the idea that maybe he was right. Maybe I didn't want to kill Kellin.

Alex had given me his number and told me to call him anytime I needed clarification on my feelings or needed to make a decision. In exchange, I was to give him more insight and information on the wizarding world.

He was utterly fascinated by the way everything worked and hadn't found any reliable sources before in which to learn it all. He truly believed in order to develop his gift, he needed to learn as much as he could about the other side of the world he belonged to.

I almost felt bad for him, considering he'd grown up as a mortal and had just been utterly confused about the things he could see about other people that nobody else could.

"I'm meeting him tomorrow," I answered instead.

"And he's going to tell you exactly what we're telling you," Jaime chided.

"You're trusting him so quickly?" Tony asked skeptically.

I paused, shifting in my seat, "... why wouldn't I?"

Tony shrugged, "you don't really know him."

Jaime swiveled to look at Tony, waving a hand dismissively. "This isn't like the whole vampire thing of yours, Vic's not stupid."
