Chapter 2: Just Hanging Around
{Kat POV}
“No, don’t.” I begged Cindy as she dialled Andy’s number. “Please don’t.”
“Oh, hush. It’s for your own good…Hi, Andy!” Cindy said suddenly and I face-palmed; trust her to not notice my crush had picked up the phone. “How you doing?” she paused, listening and nodded with a mock serious face, making me giggle. “Oh, cool! Hey, listen, Kat and I were gonna head to that carnival across town…you wanna come with?” she went quiet again, listening intently while the parade of butterflies in my stomach did summersaults. “Awesome! Sounds fab! See you there mate!”
I glared at her. “I hate you.”
“I love you too.” Cindy merely smirked back at me. “Now, you’ve got twenty minutes to get dolled up…he’s giving us a lift!”
“Fine…but you’ve gotta bring Manson.” I challenged.
“I don’t see why that’s something to be afraid of…we’re together.” Cindy frowned at me and I smiled wickedly.
“I know,” I laughed as I dashed upstairs to change. “I know…”

At the fair:
“Oh…my…God…” Cindy said, stopping suddenly as she saw something, pointing ahead. “A haunted house!” she squealed excitedly. “Have to go in! Come on Kat! Please!” she begged, shaking my arm.
“Why?” I whined just to tease her, Manson laughing at us.
“Because there weren’t any where I grew up and I wanna go in!” she said like the five year old we both knew she was. “Please!”
“Scared?” I raised my eyebrows and turned to look at Andy who was grinning evilly at me.
“I think Kat wants someone to hold her hand.” I turned my unimpressed look on Cindy again.
“Whatever.” I rolled my eyes at the three of them and grabbed Cindy’s hand, winking at Andy. “Last one there’s a coward!” I called over my shoulder as Cindy and I dashed off to the haunted house attraction, hearing the guys pelt through the crowd after us.
I felt Cindy’s hand slip from mine and turned to see Manson sweep her into his arms and carry her into the ride. I thought that happened fast. What happened next was too fast fr me to even react to! I felt Andy’s hand on my shoulder stop me, felt him turn me around, and then next thing I knew I was squealing as he threw me over his shoulder and walked with me like that into the haunted house.
This would be interesting…

{Andy POV}
I laughed as Katrina squirmed in my arms, begging me to put her down. Eventually, with a ‘that’s enough’ look from Cindy, I set her on her feet.
“Thanks…” she said, her voice timid as she looked up at me and then looked around for the others.
“They went on ahead.” I explained with a shrug, then grinned. “Let’s get scared!”
“Sure…” she looked at me nervously and then spun on the spot and walked off further into the haunted house.
Sounds associated with horror films and haunted houses sounded loudly around us as we walked through the eerie halls, brushing fake cobwebs off our clothes as we went. I laughed as Katrina wrinkled her nose in disgust at some of the things meant to frighten her and flipped off a guy that jumped out of a closet at her, clearly unamused.
