**Alex's POV**
Elizabeth called me.
She said she was scared and wanted somebody to help her, be with her, while she talked to Austin.
She said she knew I was friends with him, so maybe talking to him wouldn't be so tense, if I was there.
I asked what she meant.
Elizabeth told me that Austin was the last person Alice had talked too that night.
I asked her is she was accusing him of something.
She hesitated but answered with a yes.
I would never go behind Austins back, but I heard myself answer okay.
It was almost like I could see Elizabeth smile through the other side of the phone. She told me she was going to pick me up in a few.
I almost told her my address, than remembered she was at the party. That party.
I hear a knock at my door a few minutes later. I run a hand through my hair, tug on a sweater before answering.
She looks beautiful.
Elizabeths' chestnut hair is pulled into a bun, her cheeks are rosy from her rush to get here. There's a glaze in her eyes that always suggests she knows something she shouldn't.
"Hey." She breathes. I watch her eyes scan the inside of my house. There's still caution tape hung across the door of my basement.
I clear my throat. "You want to get going?"
Her eyes snap back to me. "Yeah of course."
I follow Elizabeth to her car.
"I know this is kinda-"
"-weird? Yeah it is."
She stiffens. "You don't have to come you know."
"I know."
Her eyes look up at me, searching for one sense of hesitance, for anything suggesting I'll back out. I know for a fact she won't find anything.
