Viper's Note
We're Falling and We're Losing Control.
-Egypt Central
The sun shone through the tree tops and made a delicate pattern along the ground. I slowly sat up and stretched. Everything was at peace for a moment. I took a long breath and tried to calm my heart. Before my thoughts could wander I dropped from the tree to the ground. Judging from the light pouring into the forest, I guessed it was late afternoon. I quietly glided across the forest floor. Everything seemed so right; I felt like I belonged here.
Nothing had happened for a long time: no siblings, no hunters, and no Medusa: and for that, I was grateful. After that night I never looked back. Okay, well, that's not true. I went back once, but the cost was great. My parents had died before my very eyes. My siblings had blamed me for their deaths. I didn't understand why at the time, but then again I had only been fifteen. So that makes it about eight years now. I can't even remember how long it's been since I first ran away.
Now that I think about it, I haven't properly introduced myself. My name is Viper, and my last name is not important. I'm sure you'll find out soon enough. If you're wondering why I wasn't narrating in the beginning, then you are clearly not very observant. I guess I'll explain anyway. Back then, I didn't know what was to come, and I was a child. I wouldn't have had a clue what to say to you in the first place. (I still don't really know what to say now) I didn't even know people were going to read my story. Most of all, I didn't know what awaited me in the future. Again, something you probably don't need to know, but will probably find out anyway.
Also, if you are confused as to why my note came after the prologue then again you not very observant. If my note came first, how would you know who I was? How would I be talking to you right now? You wouldn't understand a single thing that I have said. Anyway, read on if you wish. Or don't, it doesn't really matter to me; by the end I'll still be here.
