"Jaaaaaaaames! Pleaaaaaaaase?" Dolley whined, making a fake pouty face.

James rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, a small smirk appearing on his face.

"What's in it for me?"

Dolley screwed up her face, as if thinking. She gasped slightly, clapping her hands together.

"Oh! How about the joy and satisfaction of helping your big sister?" She said sweetly.

"The usual?" James asked, grabbing his wallet and keys. He shoved them into his pocket alongside his phone, then slowly creeped towards the door.

"Yep!" Dolley chirped, blowing James a kiss. "Thank you!"

"No problem.."

Thomas sneezed rather loudly, causing the other customers at the coffee shop to stare at them. He kept his face cold and blank, not caring that he was hated by everyone in the world at the moment.

He shuffled closer to the front of the line, keeping his eyed fixed on the menu. He already knew what he'd order, since he always got the same thing when he came here.

Thomas was vaguely aware of the people around him, the sounds and smells of the coffee shop, but it was hard to concentrate. He was too damn tired.

He finally got up to the counter, ordering his usual java bean frappuccino, then stepped to the side, pulling out his phone.

A bell chimed, coming from the general direction of the door, this meant that someone had entered the shop. That was a bit odd, since they didn't seem to be very busy today, but Thomas didn't question it.

"Thomas Jefferson?" The lady at the counter called, holding out his drink. He rushed forward and grabbed it, nodding his thanks. He turned around, making to walk towards the door, before bumping straight into a man.

Thomas falls to the ground, his butt hitting the floor with a dull smacking noise. He winced, looking down at his lap, where his drink was beginning to pool.

"Wow. That's sooooo great," He said sarcastically, rolling his eyes. He started to stand up, sighing deeply. It sounded obnoxiously fake.

"I am so sorry!" The man squeaked, his deep voice hinting that he was embarrassed. He wasn't looking at Thomas.

Thomas mumbled something under his breath, looking up at the mans face. Whatever angry comments he had died in his throat.

Was that...brown? And..red?

Yes! Thomas could clearly see the reddish tint in the man's smooth chocolatey skin.

Wait. No. That meant that-

James finally looked up, his eyes meeting the eyes of the man he'd knocked over. They were a lovely shade of deep brown, with flecks of green and gold in them.

"I think I'm your soulmate," The other man said calmly, blinking a few times.

James just sort of stood there and stared at the man, a dumbfounded expression on his face.

"I'm Thomas Jefferson," The man said with a smile, extending a hand for James to shake. "And you are?"

James hesitantly reached out a grabbed his hand, immediately taking note of how soft and warm it felt grasped in his own.

"James. James Madison," He said awkwardly, blushing a bit.

He was never this awkward, god, what was wrong with him? Where was his cocky personality and joking demeanor?

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Madison. Care to sit?" Thomas asked, gesturing towards a free table.

James gulped, remembering that Dolley was still waiting on her coffee. Still..

"Yes. I'd like that a lot, actually."
