James pulled up in front of an old fashioned ice cream parlor. He cut the ignition, looking at Thomas with a nervous smile on his face.

"This isn't the whole date by the way. There's more.," Was all he said before hopping out of the car. He came around to the passenger side and opened the door for Thomas as well, bowing jokingly.

Thomas laughed and got out, immediately taking James' hand in his own and interlacing their fingers. There, that was more like it. They walked into the store together. Thomas shivered and pressed himself closer to James, looking around the store in awe. It was like they'd been transported back to the 1950's. It was magical, in all honesty.

"What's good here?" Thomas asked as they got up to the counter. He squinted up at the menu, biting his lip. There were so many choices! How was he supposed to choose just one? "I've never been," He added after a moment, trying to make himself sound like less of an idiot."

"I usually get the apple pie milkshake. It's amazing," He gushed, looking absolutely trilled. "But that's just me. Get whatever you want. Everything here is good, to be honest."

Thomas took a few more seconds to decide, while James was ordering his. Finally, he decided on white chocolate raspberry swirl. On a waffle cone, of course. He placed his order, then stood slightly behind James, who insisted on paying for their ice creams. In his own words, he was doing it because "it was my date idea, I should pay". That sounded like bullshit to Thomas, but then again, he'd never really had a real date before, not since, like, middle school. So this was all very new to him, which only made him more nervous.

"You can wait outside if you want. As soon as we get them, I'm carting you off somewhere else," James told Thomas with a soft chuckle, turning to smile warmly at him.

"What? Oh- uh, no. I'm fine, thanks. I wanna stay with you."

James' smile widened. He nodded, turning back around. Just in time, too. The man behind the counter handed James his milkshake, and Thomas his ice cream cone. James paid for the things, then grabbed Thomas' arm and began pulling him back towards the door.

"Where too next?" Thomas said in between licks of his ice cream, though he knew that James probably wouldn't tell him.

"It's a surprise," James said sternly, coming to a stop in front of the car. He opened the door for Thomas again, waiting until Thomas got in before shutting it and jogging back to the passenger side. "And if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise anymore, would it?"

Thomas huffed, pretending to be mad. He stared out of the window. "I guess," He mumbled grumpily, taking angry nips at his ice cream.

"Aww, did I hurt your feelings, Tommy?" James cooed, glancing at Thomas out of the corner of his eye as he pulled out of the parking lot. He rolled his eyes fondly, turning his attention to the road. "I'm sooorryyyy."

"No you aren't," Thomas grumbled, before giving up the act. It was too hard to act angry and childish, especially when he was actually having the time of his life. Nobody had ever liked him this much, taken time to get to know him and such, and then wanted to meet with him again. It was bizarre.

"Yes, I am," James chuckled, this time keeping his focus on the road. It would be very tragic indeed if they got into a car crash on the first- well, technology second- date.

They lapsed into silence, the only sound being the occasional slurp of ice cream, and the whooshing of the tires on the road. Soon enough, they were outside city limits. This worried Thomas a bit. What if James was planning on murdering Thomas and then dumping his body in a field where it wouldn't be found for weeks-
