"Close your eyes." I demanded as I stepped down from the stairs into the kitchen where Carl was washing dishes. He laughed.
"Eye." Carl corrected. "And I think that will make washing dishes harder Breanna." He joked. I struggled keeping a serious face. Carl nodded with a grin and wiped his hands with a kitchen towel. I held out my hand and he grabbed it. He closed his eye and I gleamed.
"Follow me." I stated as I lead Carl upstairs.
"You know when you shot through the door and ran up stairs telling me not to come up there until you came down, I was a little concerned." He joked. I laughed. "Especially when I heard a few swears." I held back a smile as I stopped Carl from walking anymore. I steadied him by the side of his arms with my hands then let go.
"Open." Carl opened his eye and immediately gapped his mouth. I sucked in my bottom lip feeling butterflies hitting the insides of my stomach trying to break free. I stepped aside as Carl examined the room. Candles and flowers aligned the room. Flowers on the walls, candles on the furniture making the room smell like cinnamon and vanilla. On the bed was a shoe box with a red bow on it. I walked over and sat on the bed where the headboard was. Carl walked over and sat across from me with the box in between us.
"What's all this for?" He questioned astonished. I picked up the box and held it out for him to take. He paused and grabbed it. He slowly pulled the bow apart and lifted the top off. His eyebrows jumped as he reached inside and pulled out a bullet. He gazed up at me confused.
"That was when I first met you and you loaded my gun." I answered before he could ask. His eyes widened and a grin appeared.
"Not possible." He remarked. "How have I never seen this?" He questioned.
"I have a thing for memorabilia." I answered as I pulled out a deck of cards. Carl's mouth hung open as I grinned. I handed over the cards and dug back into the box. "I have memorabilia from others in the group so I separated the stuff I collected that reminded me of you. My bag was in Max's stuff..." I mumbled the last part of the sentence before shifting my focus to the piece of chalk in my palm.
"Walker took my shoe didn't get me." Carl repeated as if he were reading of the door at the moment. I rolled the chalk in my hand and smiled weakly.
"That's when I knew- I mean that's when I felt that you weren't like everyone else to me." I stated as Carl gazed at me. "I liked you." I finished. Carl smiled and grabbed my hand, closing my fingers on the chalk.
"The moment I knew I liked you, weird enough as it is, is when I was arguing with my dad and you came in and screamed at us." Carl responded. My brow furrowed. Carl laughed softly. "I thought you would've left, but you didn't. No matter how hard I tried to push everyone away you were one of the only people to challenge me. You weren't worried that I would break." I smiled weakly. Carl let go of my hand and went back in the box. He laughed as he pulled out a spoon. He held it up and I blushed.
"I washed it okay!" Carl laughed as I put the chalk and the spoon back in the box. After pulling out a pebble from the spot we kissed when we reunited there were only two souvenirs left. "I stopped collecting stuff because I tried to force myself to get over you. Then we kissed, and I lost Willow, and Max." I paused and swallowed the lump in my throat. I pulled out of the box a flask wrapped in gauze. I stared at it. "I saw the town and I thought you were dead, then I saw you alive, then you were shot. I was there when Denise saved you." I gazed up at Carl as he stared at me in bewilderment. No one told him. "I knew that night. I knew that what I was pushing away was love." I paused and inhaled. "I love you Carl." Carl's mouth gaped open until a smiled formed and he rushed forward and connected our lips. I kissed back hungrily. I kicked the box of sentiments on the ground and laughed into the kiss as I heard it fall to the floor. Carl laughed slightly before kissing my jaw. "Carl." I panted trying to get his attention. Carl leaned back and stared into my eyes. I leaned forward slightly before pulling off my shirt, leaving me in a light pink bra. Carl's eyes focused on my revealed skin before looking up at me. "Do you want too..." I trailed. Carl stared at me with a smile of disbelief.
"Always, are you sure you want too?" He asked. I nodded. He paused for a moment before crashing our lips together and letting us fall back on to the bed.
