The feeling of overwhelming anticipation over took Sydney ever since she stepped foot on the huge transfer bus with surprisingly quiet people. The only life that appeared to be in the bus was the quiet pair of girls in the back corner of the bus. They were a quiet girls with practically polar opposites from what Sydney knew. There were only a few people in the transfer bus. About 5 is what Sydney had counted initially, but when she finally started to sit in the opposite corner of the weird girls, she found a tiny boy sitting in the same spot that she was in.
" Oh, I'm sorry, I'll just move," Sydney said as she headed to the seat right in front, but was stopped by the boy.
" No, its okay you can sit here," he stated with a quivering, quiet voice that made Sydney some sort of uncomfortable. She sat down right next to them and set her bag in between them to separate them a bit from each other.
The whole ride to an unknown location was both thrilling and horrifying to every person in the bus, except for Sydney. She always wanted that sense of adventure and wasn't afraid at all, but was a little was a little confused. They were headed out of Sector 42. Sector 42 was an area that was surrounded with nature. All around the valley there were huge trees that covered everything behind the forest infested land. The bus was headed straight for the forest. As they kept driving, the tress and greenery was getting thicker and thicker until there was nothing left but the slight form of light emanating from in between the leaves of the trees. It was somehow calming to Sydney.
The speaker made a screeching sound before a very distinct voice came on stating, "Mrs. Sydney Waller was the last pick up for this ride. We are now headed to your designated location. It will currently take about half an hour to arrive." Everyone groaned in unison after the announcement. Why so long?
The minutes went on and Sydney decided to put on some music on her phone with her headphones. She closed her eyes, making her go into this deep relaxation that felt so close to sleep. Then, the trance she was in immediately ended with a huge bump in the road. She looked out at one of the windows and discovered that the bus was slowly exiting the forest towards a steep mountain. Eventually, the screech of the speaker came back on and the man driving announced, "This is out destination. We will be exiting real soon, but first stay put 'till I tell you to get off. Understood?" The bus finally stopped at the sight of other transfer buses in a small meadow next to the mountain.
The man driving stood up and went out of the bus. The students sat there with confused looks on there faces. They didn't expect this many Sectors to have come or even pass the Novice Portion. Finally, the a new face came into the bus and announced in a deep raspy voice, "All students will follow me immediately, and will not wander off. If you do, we will know that you do not have the potential to be part of this, so think carefully on what you do. Now, everyone get up and follow me." All students hesitated to get up, except for the two twin girls. They headed towards the man who was already outside of the bus not looking back to see if the students were following. Soon, one by one, all the students got up and followed.
While walking they had noticed the other transfer buses were empty. Everyone was whispering while they were walking, talking about what the man meant.
"What did he mean by potential?"
"Where are we?"
"Why can't we explore this place?"
Everyone was curious, especially about where they were. The place was just this huge empty meadow with trees surrounding it with a almost unnoticeable trail into the forest and next to the steep mountain. It was a pretty place, really quiet, but somehow it made Sydney feel uneasy about everything. She was still confident in finding some sense of adventure, so she dealt with the uneasiness.
They reached the trail into the forest and as they went through it got darker and darker. There wasn't even a little sense of light through the supposed leaves. Then, Sydney spot a little light ahead of the trail and started to hear murmurings of other people.
Soon, the end of the trail was clear. It was a tunnel that was only covered by trees and somehow Sydney didn't catch onto that. When they had entered, they realized it was a decent sized area, with the seats separated into sectors. The man who had gave us the most recent announcement gestured us towards the middle of the bleachers. There were many students, but not enough to fill the whole bleachers, there was just enough for half of it to be filled. There were many men standing behind the bleachers and seemed to be either protecting the students, or protecting something from the students.
After everyone had been seated and calmed down, a man came on to a stage in front of the bleachers where everyone can see in front of a podium with microphones and speakers next to the podium.
