The same night that we had found the hellhound's dead body, Scott, Malia, Lydia and I were walking through the woods.
"We can still catch him," I told them.
Scott was distracted. "Catch who?"
"The killer," I answered. "What are you thinking about?"
Scott showed us the bullet. "Getting the bullet to Argent."
"Even if he's the one who fired it?" Malia asked.
"Especially if he's the one who fired it," Scott answered. He focused his hearing. "Do you hear that?"
"Heartbeats?" Malia asked.
Scott started to breathe heavily in fear. "A lot of them. They're here."
"Who?" Lydia asked.
"Hunters," Scott told us. "Run."
We all ran through the woods. Scott was more than just scared, but we didn't know why.
"Scott, wait," Lydia told him. "Scott!"
Deputies started to surround us. Scott really thought they were hunters, shifting, roaring, tackling Dad to the ground.
Dad had his gun aimed at Scott for defense, knowing he wasn't thinking straight. "Scott. Scott, it's me."
I ran up to Scott to pull him off of my dad. "It's my dad, Scott. Scott." Scott came to reality, looking confused and horrified. I kept Scott's shifted face hidden from the deputies. "Okay, okay. Come on. It's okay. It's okay."
I helped Dad stand.
Dad looked at the deputies. "Everybody, stay back. It's just a kid."
A female deputy named Vargas spoke up. "What's wrong with his eyes?"
Parrish walked closer. "You heard the Sheriff. Stand down."

Scott, Lydia, Malia and I took Dad and Parrish to the hellhound's body to show them.
Scott looked at Dad. "I'm really sorry. You don't think they saw anything, do you?"
"No more than they're used to," Parrish answered.
"You wanna tell me what happened here?" Dad asked.
"He's a hellhound," Lydia told them.
"A dead hellhound," Malia told them.
I nodded sarcastically. "Yep, we got that."
"Well, I don't get it," Parrish told us. "I didn't think you could kill a hellhound."
"Looks a lot easier than we thought," I told them.
"You got anything you want to add?" Dad asked.
Scott pocketed the Argent bullet. "Yeah, I don't think it was just any bullet."
Parrish looked at the body nervously. "I hope not."

I drove the Jeep up to Scott's house, making rounds to drop Scott, Lydia and Malia off.
"Why did you say anything?" Lydia asked.
"Why didn't you say anything?" Malia asked.
"Why didn't either of you say anything?" I asked. "Wait, was I supposed to say something? Just because he's my dad doesn't mean I have to tell him everything."
