The next day, Scott, Lydia, Malia and I were in the Argent bunker with Argent to tell him that Gerard was the one behind training the new hunters and for helping kill Brett and Lori last night.

"They were murdered," Scott told him. "Killed by the new hunter in Beacon Hills."

"You know, when he took out the hellhound, we thought that it was luck," I told them. "That we were dealing with an amateur. But now we know that whoever this new hunter is, he has a teacher."

"Gerard, which means this is my fault," Argent told us. "I'm the one who let him go."

"You couldn't have done anything," Lydia told him.

"He could've killed him," Malia told us. We gave her a look. "Just saying."

"We're not executioners," Lydia told us.

"You are when it comes to war," Malia told us.

"That's why we're gonna make peace," Scott told us.

"With Gerard?" I asked skeptically.

"Stacie, you know what's coming," Scott told me. "We all keep using the same word."

"War," Argent told us.

"So what stops a war from happening?" Scott asked.

"Peace summit," Lydia answered.

"Right," Scott agreed. "We meet face to face with Gerard. Find out what he wants, and then we stop all this before it gets any worse."

"Last time Gerard was at a peace meet was with Deucalion," I told them, remembering the story that Peter had told Stiles and me. "He blinded him and then killed everybody else, including his own men."

"I'll go," Argent told us. "I know he's not going to kill me."

"You sure about that?" Malia asked.

"Not really," Argent answered.

"All we need is to find out what he wants," Lydia told us. "Then we can bargain."

"Even if he does agree, his terms might be difficult to meet," Argent told us.

"Well, that's why it's a negotiation," Lydia told us. "We can't expect to get anything without giving something up."

"Then you're gonna have to figure out just how much you're willing to give, and how far you're willing to go to stop a war," Argent told us.

Scott, Lydia, Malia and I exchanged a worried look.

Argent went to talk to Gerard, but he didn't want peace. Liam, having shifted in the middle of the street when Brett and Lori had been killed, had been exposed, and everyone at the school was turning against him. He found out that the new hunter was his guidance counselor named Tamora Monroe.

I was in the principal's office to talk to Monroe since I was human and she wouldn't be scared of me.

Monroe walked in. "You wanted to see me?" She realized it was me and not the new principal, Lydia's mom. "Sorry, I must be in the wrong place. Someone said Ms. Martin was looking for me."

"Oh, it's the right place," I told her. "Ms. Martin's not in right now, so you'll have to settle for talking to Miss Stilinski."

Monroe chuckled. "I know who you are, Saoirse."

I rolled my eyes when she mispronounced it like sea-horse. "Sear-sha Stilinski. But you can call me Stacie."

"Okay, Stacie," Monroe told me. "So, what am I here to talk to you about?"
