Everyone's eyes were planted on Mr. Nester. Esperanto's focus was so strong that even Ursus couldn't pull him away to whisper. "It's about time we start controlling our kingdom more," Nester began, "And anything that gets in the way of the success of kingdom that does not contribute to our progression should be eliminated. Yes?" Everyone nods in agreement. Ursus felt a little unsettled by the way Mr. Nester talked, and Esperanto's eyes were still glued to the old owl. "Well, if we're all in agreement of that, then our solution is simple. We regulate the human population." A murmur ripples across the crowd. Nester continues by saying, "And that's where we need your help. The council by itself cannot reach a consensus on how to deal with it, let alone make such a dramatic decision without consulting the public. We would like to open up a forum now, so you can give the council ideas on how, exactly, we should attempt to regulate the human population." The wildcat on the council called everyone to form a queue who wanted to share there idea. Esperanto finally turned his attention away from the council when Ursus whispered to him, "Hey! What do you think of all this? Like, doesn't it seem a little risky?" Esperanto responded by saying, "I'm not fond of getting rid of humans, but if it's to protect the kingdom I suppose it must be done." Ursus was a little startled by his state of mind. He seemed a little...lost.
The wildcat called once more, "Everyone submitting a statement please form a line by the wall of the cave leading up to the front!" The council formed a semicircle around the front of the cave and started the process. An old duck by the name of Bobby Jo was up first. She had always been very opinionated, so naturally she was the first in line. She talked with a quack in her voice and always tried to precisely pronounce her words so the animals could understand her through her thick, quacky, accent. She said, "I say it's about time we get rid of those humans, always destroying our land and such. I see them polluting our waters with debris floating around and catching is beaver's dams." From the corners you could here the chatter on agreeing beavers. She continued, "And you hear and know all about the distant gunshots killing animals from other kingdoms. I have no intention of being killed, so I say we kill them before the get us first!" A roar erupted form the crowd and forced the council to settle them down. Mr. Nester yelled, "Next!" as he did after everyone's turn. Everyone had similar ideas and similar doubts, the most striking suggestion was made by a simpleminded, young little red fox. Not many knew the name of this fox for he was never around for much. The fellow rarely came to social events and was often caught prancing, or should one say, sneaking around the edge of the kingdom. You would think one would take caution and try to stay away from the boundary, for just beyond was a paved road which marked the beginnings of civilization. No one had heard his voice before, so when he began to speak, everyone was met with a surprisingly silky, soft, and devilish voice. The fox said, "What I am about to say may shock many of you, and you may think to yourself What kind of a risky plan is this? or, Who would be brave enough to pull off this kind of a heist. Well, I will answer it for you. I will. My plan is very risky indeed, it involves intruding into the human world, breaking into a specific building and stealing. The most important part is that it must all be done at night. I will need a team of nocturnal animals." Everyone in the crowd was shocked and silent. The young fox continued, "My plan is to break into a human store called a pharmacy at night when no one is there and steal human birth control pills. What will we do we those you may ask? Well we will sneak into one of their farms and drill tiny holes into their food. Then, we will pour the mashed up pills into the vegetable or fruit. The humans will eat it, and it will prevent additions to their population." The council and the crowd stared silently at the fox, confused and unsure of how his plan will go. Ursus is the most worried of all, because if they would go to these lengths to get rid of humans, what would happen if the found Fera?Alright! What did you think of this chapter? Will the council consider the fox's plan? Will his plan even work? Let me know what you think! Get ready for the next chapter, because I will dig deeper into the life of Fera, the human girl.
