I remember the days of my childhood when happiness would be the embodiment of my soul, joy flowing through my veins like magic, the ways of the world enchanting. I felt the wind soar past my face as Peter Pan took me to Neverland.  I was young and free and I believed in fairies. I loved reading folk tales and I dreamt up alternate realities all of my own.

There was a day when everything changed, I lost a piece of myself. I was corrupted and I remember it like it was yesterday. My family had decided to go on a little camping trip and for the first time in my life, at the age of ten, I fell in love. Pitch black hair that seemed to be perfect and gray eyes that matched the pre-dawn sky, the mildly unsettling gray had started being filtered away by the magnificent array of colours and it almost reflected in his eyes when he tilted his head towards the clouds.

Eren's POV

The car was roaring with noise, the radio blurting out some stupid overused pop song that I didn't like whilst my cousin complained that she really needed the toilet and my aunt sighing with exhaustion and explaining we were almost there. my uncle was humming along to the radio as he drove and my father was quietly reading the Hobbit. My sense of smell was dulled by the peppermint candies that my aunty was practically shoveling into her mouth. I paid no mind however to the mundane car ride, in favor of resting my head tiredly against the cool window. The sun was barely up but thankfully I was on the other side of the car which meant the view was a spectacular spectrum of colours, oranges and reds.

In my mind, I created a game, I imagined that I was a skilled ninja, running along the roads, narrowly avoiding traffic and scaling any building that came across my path, all whilst keeping out of sight, I was a ninja after all.

The oranges seemed to wake the sky and my eyes zoned in on a lone figure, he was sitting all alone on a swing set. A gentle breeze blew past his stotic figure and his silver eyes locked with mine. I didn't realise the car had stopped until my aunt flung herself out of the car and exclaimed that we had arrived. My mind was set on meeting the boy but my cousin blocked my path as I took my first step towards the park.

"What do you want Mikasa?" She smiled at me in a creepy way, it was no secret that she was weirdly in love with me, her own cousin. My family thought it was cute, I thought it was annoying. "Do you wanna go to the park with me?" she asked me, she must have noticed my longing looks in that direction. "Sure," I answered, I couldn't be bothered dealing with the consequences of me rejecting her.
