The Cure

Part 1

"Kris get your ass out of bed you are going to be late" I wake up my eyes still hazy I roll over and see someone standing in front of me, shit its Erica she already hates me and one thing she hates more than me is lazy people, and sleeping in is like illegal to her. I sit up and let my eyes adjust and yawn "Hey Erica, how are you today" she looks mad, "you want to know how I am this morning" she slaps me hard in the face "that is how I feel this morning, now hurry the fuck up it's your turn to make breakfast" i roll out of bed and fall onto the floor. I am definitely awake now I quickly put on my clothes and hurry down to the kitchen

when I get there I can see Mei has already started on the food preparations, I hurry in and put on my apron "sorry I'm late Mei what can I do to help" she looks at me with kind eyes, "can you stir the porridge and I will start the toast" I walk over to the stove which has a gigantic pot of porridge cooking on it. I grab the wooden spoon and start stirring.

once the toast is done we bring the food over to the serving bench which we serve the food into 20 bowls. we live in a small orphanage that bearly has any children in it and the last care taker is Erica, she used to be an orphan to but she was never adopted so she took a role in taking care of all the children in the orphanage, she has just turned 23, I am the second oldest in the orphanage at the age of 16 and Mei is just a few days younger than me other than us there are 17 other kids in the orphanage. We try to stay low because we already have bearly any food as it is after the Cure Project started and more kids would just mean we get less food. this damn cure project, I don't really remember my parents but Layla one of the old carers told me that my father was working on The Cure when it was still extremely experimental and I had to be taken away because they found out he was working on it in our basement. Layla was kidnapped 5 years ago and found a week later missing her eyeballs and half her head missing.

I shake the thought out of my head and finish serving up our breakfast. "do you want to go get them up or should i" Mei says from behind me "no I will do it" I say and rush out, hanging up my apron as I leave. when I get to the main hallway and stand right in the middle of it which is right outside of Reins room, this is my favourite part of the morning. I cup my hands to my mouth and scream "WAKEY WAKEY ASSHOLES" I start to run up to all the doors and bang them wide open yelling "GET OUT OF BED LAZY ASSES" as they start to wake up I run back to the kitchen and wait for them to all pile into the cafeteria. moments later they all slowly begin to walk in still half asleep, they grab their bowls and sit down. Mei and I grab ours and sit down, I am sitting at my usual table in the back corner with Rein Mei and nana, nana is the youngest girl at the age of 6, I feel very protective of her She is leaning her head on my shoulder. across from me is Rein, he is 15 and in charge of most of the male related stuff such as checking in on their rooms and cleaning the boys area he is teamed with Adrien who is 16 Adrien is not the most responsible person, he has fallen into underage drinking and smoking but we do not want to stop him because it keeps him happy and we can't be bothered to tell him not to. Mei is sitting next to Rein eating her breakfast without a sound. 

"so Rein, how did you sleep" I ask, his head shoots up and he gives me the death stare, "well I was sleeping fine until SOMEONE woke me up" I roll my eyes,  "what you mean like I do every other day since you got here" he lowers his head and we all eat the rest of our meal in silence
