The Cure

Part 2

as we finish our meals I feel a tug on my sleeve I look down, it is Kerin Mei's younger brother, he is 8 years old and he rarely talks to anyone I lean down and he whispers in my ear "I just got news that they have released The Cure worldwide" I look at him and nod as he runs off, Kerin is our news person, he may never really talk to anyone but he hears everything he is the one that finds out important information, he works alongside Ariane she is very good at talking and gossip. we go back to the kitchen and wash all the dishes then we head back to our rooms to get dressed and ready for a day of scavenging. we live in the part of town which was evacuated during the bomb attack, that was around the same time all the carers left us to die. there are not many other camps here because is they stayed out for too long they would be dead from the constant snow storms and nothing to keep them warm seeming that the electricity was wiped out during the bombing, the only reason we are still alive is that before the carers left us all we were forced down into the basement.

I shudder just thinking about it, we were stuck in there for 4 days, with every hit from a bomb we feared for our lives for four days we were stuck with next to no food and almost no water, we lost 4 people, including my best friend Katelyn, just remembering her pains me, she was so strong but was taken away by something so simple, she deserved to survive but she didn't.

Everyone heads down to the auditorium, it is a mess in there but it is the easiest place for us to all meet and plan together, we map out our roots get into our groups and collect our weapons, lunches and other gear that may be needed. my group consists of me and rein then there are also two others their names are Kesha and William, Kesha And William are boyfriend and girlfriend and have known each other since they were kids, but they are much older now, we are one of the two far range squads, we are the ones who go out the furthest and therefore are put into more danger and risk being stuck out there at night. nana usually stays here and prepares lunch for the next day then she cleans up, she usually does this with her friend Harrison but today he is joining their group for exploring since he is strong and is usually used to carry supplies. we check over our supplies and fill our water then we head out.
