10 years earlier.....
It was the year of 2007, Kiana had just turned 5 years of age. It was early in the morning, 7:00, to be more precise. Kiana had just gotten up from bed and started getting ready for her first day of kindergarten. Her mom walks in the room as Kiana had just finished packing up her backpack. After packing, Kiana ran down stairs to eat breakfast with her father. Kiana's mom checked her backpack to see if she had everything she needed to bring to school.
"Everything is all set". Her mom said.
Rachel, Kiana's mom, headed down stairs to check if Kiana had finished eating her meal.
"Are you finished with your cereal, sweetheart?" Her mom asked.
"Almost" Kiana replied with cereal crammed in her mouth.
7 minutes have passed and Kiana had finished her bowl of cereal. She hopped out of her chair, carrying the bowl she ate in and gently placed it near the kitchen sink.
"I'm ready to go now Mommy" Kiana said.
"Ok" Her mom replied
"Take care, love you!" The father said
"We love you too!" Kiana replied.
Kiana walked out of the kitchen and began putting her shoes on. While she was putting on her shoes, her mother grabbed her car keys and phone, then gave a kiss goodbye to the father. Once Kiana was finished, she took her mothers hand and walked out the door and into the car.
On the way to school, Her mother realized that Kiana had been looking a little worried and a bit scared. She took Kiana's hand and said
"You'll be fine, I promise you, you'll have fun on the first day of school, there's nothing to worry about."
"What if the other kids don't want to hang out with me? What if they don't like me?" Kiana asked with a worried tone.
"No they won't, I guarantee you'll make a lot of friends."her mother replied with a sweet tone
"I hope so..." Kiana replied.
After an 5 minute drive to school, it was already 7:30, they had arrived just in time before school started.
Her mom knocked on the classroom door and stood with Kiana outside. The door opened and behind it, the teacher stood.
"Oh, nice to meet you, you must be one of my students, I'm Mrs.Deana, I'll be your teacher this school year." She said
Kiana didn't say a word, she was to shy to say anything, so she just stood there.
"HI, I'm Rachel, Kiana's mom" Rachel said, as she swooped in to shake the teachers hand.
"Please excuse my daughter, she's a bit shy and scared."
"Oh, it's fine, I had some students who felt the same way, on their first day of school." the teacher replied.
As they continued their conversation, the bell rang.
"Ok, well, it was nice meeting you but I'm afraid it's time to start school now." Said Mrs. Dean.
"Ok, I have to go now honey, be good at school" Her mother said, as she waved Kiana good-bye.
The first day of school was a bit trouble some for Kiana, she had a hard time focusing in class. She didn't really make a ton of friends, like her mother promised. But, at the time she didn't really care, all she wanted was to go home and be with her family.
When school had ended, Kiana was walked out of her classroom by the teacher. As Kiana waited for her mother to pick her up, she played with her class mates who were also waiting for their parents to pick them up.
After 10 minutes of waiting, her mother had finally arrived.
"Finally! You came, what took you so long?" Kiana asked.
"I had to go grocery shopping" her mom said.
"Oh, ok" Kiana replied.
"So.... How was school?" Her mother asked.
Kiana didn't reply.
"Are you ok, what happened?"
"Nothing, I just had a hard time focusing, and I also didn't make as much friends." Kiana replied with a sad tone.
"Oh that's ok... I'm sure you'll make more friends tomorrow" Rachel said.
"I hope so...." Kiana said.
The first day of kindergarten wasn't as fun as Kiana had thought it would be. She had hoped that the next school year would be better, but will it?...
