Mercy
I have always had the power to see small details about a person. It happens when I'm near them for a short amount of time. I learned that the man's name was Hanzo, and he was visiting his old castle to honor his brother. Yet I was confused. He had given me this feather in exchange for a new life, not his brother. It made me wonder if he hated his younger brother, or just didn't want him to come back, and stay dead for all eternity.
I pondered these things while in my lantern cave. The small feather glowed the brightest. But something was off about it, whenever I was around it, I felt more safe, and more empathy. The father away from it I got, the more uncomfortable I felt. It was the strangest thing. Yet, I had duties to see too, and people to help. I put the lantern away, and fly to my new village.
I met a man with many sorrows, for he had buried way too many friends. I helped him forget all the burials, and he had thanked me much. I didn't know if letting him forget was the best, but I cannot bring back that many people at a time.
I was very uneasy at the village, and it was because the feather was far away. This was a calm village, so there were no evil spirits.
As I finished up my duties in the village, I decided that tonight, I would see what is wrong with that feather.
