The next day, Tom was once again stepping through his portal onto the Diaz's front lawn. He walked to the front door and knocked on it a few times. He heard some things crash from inside until the door finally opened. Star looked really disappointed it was Tom.
"Oh... It's you..." She said. Tom rolled his eyes and looked into the house.
"Were you expecting someone else?" Tom mumbled. Star held a glare at him before putting on a cocky grin.
"No. But anyone that wasn't you would've been better." Tom rolled his eyes again. "I'm not going out with you, Tom." Star said before she started closing the door. Tom slammed his hand on the wood, opening it again.
"Yeah, I'm not here for you... Marco!" Tom called. He heard cluttering from upstairs and Marco walked down a few seconds later. Tom smiled at him and Marco blushed a bit smiling back. "There you are. C'mon, lets go." Tom wrapped one arm around Marco's shoulders making the boy blush even more.
"Y-yeah. Sure." Marco grinned. "Uh, Bye Star." He said before the door slammed shut. Star stood there dumbfounded. The two boys walked to the portal.
"Where are we going?" Marco asked looking into the glob of color floating in front of him.
"I was just thinking maybe a tour of the underworld and video games at my place?" Tom shrugged, still not moving his arm from around Marco. Star watched them step through the portal from the window.
"Who does he think he is? First he goes after me and then Marco?" Star growled. Sudden realization struck and she let out a gasp. "Did Marco say yes?! Is that why they left?! Are they going on a date?!!" after a few minutes of pacing around and mumbling to herself, Star gave up and watched TV. But she would have a serious discussion when Marco got home.
-with Marco and Tom-
"Andd... This is the dining room." Tom and Marco walk into a large room with a table stretching almost all the way across. Marco looked around in awe.
"Woww... This place is huge!" Marco smiles excitedly, looking around the room and running his fingers over the smooth wood table. Tom smiled at him.
"Well, it is a castle." Tom laughed a bit. Marco rolled his eyes and continued looking around the room. "Are you gonna stare at my table all day or come play video games?" Tom smirked. Marco nodded and followed Tom to his room, casually talking on the way. They stopped in front of a large double door. Tom swung one open, walking in with Marco following close behind. Tom smiled as he watched Marco look around. He thought it was so cute how Marco found everything fascinating. Every last detail he would be looking at in awe.
"Tom, your room is huge!" Marco sat down on the edge of Tom's large bed. Tom smiled and chuckled a bit.
"I'm glad you like it." Tom sat next to Marco closely. Marco blushed as he could feel their arms brush against each other. Marco nervously glanced at Tom who was smiling at him. Their gazes locked and they stared each other in the eye. They both started to slowly lean forward from instinct.
"I knew it..." A voice cut through the silence. Tom and Marco looked towards where the voice came from. Star was standing at the doorway with teary eyes. "How could you do this to me, Marco..." That was when the two boys realized how close they were and jumped back. Star started running out of the room, trying to wipe away her tears as more formed.
"Star wait!" Marco ran after her, leaving Tom sitting there trying to make sense of what happened. Marco ran down the halls after Star. "Star! Wait!!" He called again. She stopped and turned around, tear streaks on her cheeks.
"What?! What, Marco?! What could you say to... Possibly to make this okay?!" Star cried out. Marco looked at her surprised.
"W-what are you talking about?" Star huffed, turning away. Unable to look at Marco.
"You and... And Tom." She said tom in a exaggerated tone. Marco walked a few steps closer to her but decided it wasn't the best.
"Star... You and I aren't even together. Neither are Tom and I." Marco reached out to touch her shoulder, but she turned, slapping it away. Marco stumbled back.
"Yeah?! But you wish, don't you?! I like you, Marco. Okay?!" She yelled. Marco's eyes widened. He stood, staring at her until he sighed.
"Star... I didn't want you to know because I knew it would hurt you..." Marco looked at the floor. Star gasped, stumbling backwards like it came as a shock. Her hands balled into fists as she turned and opened a portal with her scissors.
"I thought you were my friend... I thought we could be more..." Star said, just above a whisper before stepping through the portal. Marco knew one thing... Star didn't go back to the Diaz house. Or any of their friends... She went home... Her home... Where she belonged. Marco stared in the place she was standing.
"This is all my fault..." He mumbled to himself. He covered his eyes and fell to his knee's sobbing.
"Marco..?" He heard a voice. But he kept crying. The owner of the voice grabbed his shoulder, turning him around into a hug. Marco sobbed into his chest. Tom looked down sympathetically and picked Marco up bridal style. Marco refused to let go of them, sobbing into their neck as they floated back to the bedroom. Tom set Marco down on his bed and brushed his bangs from his face. Marco started to settle down, only letting out short sobs and sniffles. Tom held his hand to Marco's cheek, shushing and cooing him. "Oh, Marco..." he mumbled. And Marco could swear he saw Tom glance at his lips and back to his eyes.
"H-how much d-did y-you hear?" Marco could only stutter with a strained voice. Tom smiled gently and placed his open hand on Marco's.
"Enough..." They stared each other in the eye until Marco wrapped his arms around Tom's neck, pulling him into an embrace. Tom hugged back tightly, not wanting to let go. He was confused by his emotions, but Tom knew one thing... He loves Marco Diaz.
